So typically 5 days before my holiday i come down with cold. Happens every time i swear.

So my question is... as there is no cure for a cold do you think its better to leave it drug free to run its course and hope its a light one or should i drug up and hope it clears it quicker?

Stay away from dairy and caffeine... Vit C is the answer including all the berries in your diet!

I'm regret to inform you that there is absolutely no evidence (past anecdotal) to suggest that vitamin c has any bearing on the course of a viral infection. Vitamin c is an antioxidant and is used to soak up free radicals in ones body.

The best thing for a cold is hydration, food and mild analgesics to help ease the symptoms. Why suffer in discomfort when you dont have to?

Stick to matural anti inflammatories. Ginger is the best if you can stand the taste.

The good news is its takes the body about 5-10 days to fight off a cold

..

Regular paracetamol, lots of fluids, honey and lemon in boiled water is good.

I hope you feel better soon

Sandwich

Lots of fluids, paracetamol.

A hot toddy doesn’t really improve things, but it may help you sleep a bit better (well that’s my excuse anyway)

But not backed by any medical science and most recent research shows that you should feed both

This is my remedy too. I stop having a cuppa and will always have hot honey and lemon in my hand, usually with no voice.

Hope your feeling better in time for your holiday x

Quite often, at this time of year I get hayfever symptoms; I used to think that I had a cold. Maybe try taking some antihistamine.

Two hot whiskeys before bed, with Lemsip in them. Layer up and sweat it out in bed.

It works!

I’ve got a really yucky cough and cold that came on really suddenly.

Hoping it’s gone by party time next week

I get into bed with three large women. One on top, two each side. Then sweat it out.
