Does any parent know if they still do firework safety at school ? I remember when I was at school this was drilled into our heads. Fireworks fun, but hella dangerous ! |

Our technical drawing master , Old Bungey, used to say that every good schoolboy should know how to make gunpowder.
Boys like bangs, flames and smoke.
It's how we got to the moon...sort of..

the story has now changed to kids throwing fireworks into a car as it was driving past, driver has major injuries apparently, if this is true, i am at a loss to think what goes through people’s minds who think this is acceptable behaviour. |

That's horrendous. Not the first time it's happened though. ![](/icons/s/sad.gif) |

when my son was a baby i had my son in my arms saying goodbye to my friend on her doorstep and someone through a rocket at me. It just missed me and landed at the bottom of her hall way and burnt a great big hole |

Remember a few decades back, only the late seventies. Fireworks were far tamer and didnt cause all the hystericss they do now. I had dogs up to the late eighties and it didnt cause them problems. You always got some kids who would hurt themselves, but give them a sharp stick and theyd hsve someones or there own eye out.
You dont need to ban them outright. They should be smaller, only sold through proper outlets (not the spivs and neer do wells whose shops pop up for a month in october). Only sell them for a week prior to 5th nov. Sales dtop at 9pm 5th nov. Anyone caught letting them off after the 5th gets prosecuted.
All the people suggesting total bans, and only have organised displays. Have you heard the racket the aerial bombs they use, make? Far louder than the general public can get hold of.
Just bring the volume of them ALL down, by a notch or two and everones happy. |
