I think it was to reduce the clutter in the lounge, but it's certainly had the effect of slowing or stopping many games.

I forget it’s there as soon hidden. It’s a shame can’t pop from the threads in the forum to the supposed “games” threads easily

One person went on a rant that there were too many games in the lounge, then immediately went UNLOS. The games forum then popped up.

It's definitely killing off the games, I know i don't really participate in them anymore.

A forum dedicated to games as a child of the lounge. So it's separate, but permanently connected to the area it is most connected to. So much of the lounge is also mindless dross...

I'm not sure why there are different Forums, because very few people pay attention to them.

It seems the majority post in the Lounge because they think it'll get more views. Games, advice, camping, events, clubs, other countries, Admin assistance.. all have their own threads, but alot of it flows into the Lounge.

I'm not sure if my sillier threads like "Human vs Animal Fight Club" Falls into "Games thread" Or Mindless Dross Lounge Thread".

Yes, it's a shame. Quite a few of the threads that actually get people interacting with each other in a positive way seem to have been relegated to a forum that very few will visit.

It will reduce interaction between people particularly if every thread aimed at connecting people is seen as a game and not allowed in th lounge. It’s at best short sighted.

I think the PM game for example should be in the lounge. Maybe if it was worded differently.

So shah's first to 175 wins was moved to the games section, mine humour me and get this to 175 was kept in the lounge. Mine was filled in under 2 hours, his took a week as it was in the games section.

Admin moved politics into its own section now they have done games people who want to indulge can still do so those who don't will be happy as Larry.

I didn't like logging into the Lounge and just seeing game after game after game.

I come in to talk. That said, it's not my Forum, but I'm glad they did it and I'm glad they're trying to keep on top of things.

Just wish more political threads were moved quicker.

I don't see why it's so hard to post Help related threads in the Advice section, Meet related threads in the Meet Forum etc.

People want the attention so clog up the place where people go to chat.

Oh yes I’ve just seen the threads you’re referring to. Maybe there needs to be some clarification as to what constitutes a game. This could permit those threads of a game nature that are confined to a single thread to remain in the lounge. The games which are continuous could go in the games forum making them easier for people to find should they have missed a thread or two.

I have no opinion either way with regards to the games forum itself as I don’t tend to participate in any games

I only use forums for the lounge, swingers chat and club events... I never participated in ‘games’ because I thought about it, the spontaneity of seeing it and just throwing up a pic or something was the fun part! Organised fun isn’t much fun at all

You misunderstand, or I explained poorly.

I didnt mean the gamers were attention seeking.

I meant people post there threads in the Lounge, despite knowing full well they belong elsewhere in dedicated Forums. They want the most attention possible on that thread. Hence people repeatedly asking for profile advice and advertising meets in the Lounge.

Despite belonging in two Forum sections you can see without even scrolling down on your phone. Unlike politics all the way down the bottom.

Games is a new one, so it's a bit unfair to lump them in that group, especially as the definition of what constitutes a game is pretty loose at the moment.

I dunno.. I felt safer in game threads as a newbie, than I did on other topics where there is potential to get bombarded with hatred for daring to have an opinion.

It's just.. not really my thing, unless.. threads like some of my sillier ones are classed as games by admin, then I guess I am.

I'd say they were hypothetical questions, rather than games, but am prepared to be told otherwise.

I think my attention seeking comment has been taken in a different way than I intended it to come across.

I wasn't really on about games threads when I wrote it.. more brexit threads, people asking for profile help and people posting meets. Usually newer members who posted their thread in the correct place initially.. but it didn't get much attention, so they repost it in lounge a few days later.. because it gets more attention there. Though not usually the right kind.

Games is new, so a bit unfair to bundle them into that group.

Anyway.. I'm off for a skate on the ice, who is joi-! *plop* WTF!

Personally i think it’s a good thing. A vast majority (not all, obviously) of the games are merely used by those trying to fulfil a self serving purpose.

You can tell that because when taken away from the Lounge fewer folk participate because their flirting etc is taken away from the spotlight and shoved away in a corner. And they lose interest.

If folk were genuinely interested in playing forum games they would make a concerted efforted to check out the games section.

If you participate in a game thread then “lose it” why have you lost it? All you have to do is check out the “threads i have posted to” section. It’ll be there.

It was started for a reason. Obviously folk moaned about the threads. It would have taken more than one person complaining to have got a seperate section started for it.

That’s my opinion.

I’m going to concede my earlier position and agree that the repetitive types of game may well be better off in the separate section. However, the lack of clarity as to what constitutes a game means that threads that serve a different purpose can be categorised as games and die as soon as they are moved. Tea Monkey’s threads and Bread’s Find a Friend thread are specific examples.

The other issue is the one raised by Moon Grey Cat and GK as to what is considered a thread suitable for the Lounge rather than one of the other message boards?

There is no assistance to help people navigate the forum at all so it’s all very hit and miss. There must be better ways to do this, even with the limitations of the antiquated forum software the site uses.

Just as with so much on here and the forum rules in general; so much is open to interpretation and will be down to individual judgement and bias. What constitutes a game? What is political? What's athletic, curvy... What's abusive or constitutes trying to get around a block?

The examples are endless and as I said previously; us debating it has proved to be a futile thing. Simply noone knows!

I think it's right that games have their own forum. However maybe a compromise is to elevate that forum to the front page where it can be seen more easily?

Do you mean the ‘idiots’ who made up words, didn’t like it when questioned and then started similar games before stealing your original games by slightly changing the name till they ran the lot between them and suddenly a new Games forum appears in which they now refer to them as “our” games?

Probably the best thing to do mate, it’s not worth fighting it, as the ‘posse’ comes out in their numbers and make it very difficult for you. All I can say is good luck if you do take them on
