So am going completely non-fab related in this Question just want strangers opinions really.

So I started to lose weight properly in May-ish time with a qualified coach, since then i lost over two stone. But now am stuck in motivation due to private/mental life, my coach is helping best he can.

Has anyone else got any tips that can help??

Set yourself targets that are attainable like run for a certain distance in under a target time, it is also good to have competition with a friend or just someone in the gym at a similar standard to you and then you keep pushing yourself

I find the Concept2 indoor rower, on line training log good as you can rank your best workouts and then compare your times to other people in same age bracket.

Find a big motivation within yourself. Bigger than just weight loss. Something really compelling.

Are you trying to follow the same routine and diet? Maybe you need to vary it to include something different. The thing with fitness routines and diets is that after a while they get boring, at which point many people give up. Maybe switching it about a bit might work.

For the private life stuff, can you find someone to chat to about it online or in real world xx

Find something you really enjoy doing. For years I forced myself to go to the gym and kept losing motivation, so now I don't go. I do a martial arts class once a week and I swim because I actually enjoy them so I look forward to going.

I hate gyms so walk instead. Being out in the fresh air is far better for you and for me its much more enjoyable.

Try and find a gym partner. A personal trainer is easy to avoid, someone knocking on your door telling you to get your gym kit on is motivation you can't avoid.

Let's face it, most people will find an excuse to not go to the gym at some point; no matter how driven. A gym partner can often give you that boost.

I also found a routine helps. As in have a set time that you go, religiously. It soon becomes second nature.

As stated by others, have a plan before you go (fits in to routine). If you dont you'll end up going around the gym aimlessly and wont achieve anything. For example one day I'll do chest and tri's, next shoulders, next back and bi's and so on

The hardest thing is doing the same thing repeatedly.

Mix up your week with a circuits or spin class.

Find a gym buddy, can be male or female but as an excuse to push each other.

Set yourself a challenge, a tough mudder , a 5k or 10k run.

Look at cycling, that gets you out side in the summer, if you can swim too look at a triathlon.

Mentally and physically you need to change things every 6 weeks or so.

Look at your food and calculate weekly calories not daily so you have some room to have nicer food or eat out.

Most of all do it for fun, because if you don't gain any pleasure you can't sustain it.

And well done on losing 2 stone, thats a great acheivement in itself.

And be prepared to plateau. In the beginning it's easy to stay motivated because gains/losses are significant. Eventually you will plateau and those gains/losses will slow right down.

Probably not the best to advise on this since I’m not fit or slim

However have you been treating yourself with each achievement?

You could set a Target like a weight loss or 8 weeks doing a set routine or meeting a personal best then treat yourself to something you’ve always wanted to do. Your treat could be simply a meal out with friends, booking a gig, a break away, fast car experience, new tattoo or just anything that brightens your day.

This way you are helping your physical and mental health.

Good luck xx

I think consistency is key, it is for me anyway, if I miss more than a couple of days I struggle to get back into it...even if you just start of small, try to move yourself everyday even if it’s not a workout maybe a walk or something you like and get into a daily routine
