Siren & I have both had a 48 bug that left us with the king of sore throats. Siren suggessted gargling with TCP but as soon as I opened the bottle and smelled it I thought, "Why didn't it occur to TCP salepersons when asked to flog this stuff they didn't reply with, "But it smells and tastes like shit! WHo's gonna buy this muck?""

Still, having a sore throat means nil by mouth and as I haven't eaten a single thing for two days I've lost 5lbs. That's a bonus.

TCP was the "cure anything" medicine, along with Disprin, when I was a kid.

It was good for grazes when I fell off my bike or got a kick playing footy or as you've already said, for soothing sore throats.

Tastes and smells nasty though, but aint that what medicine is supposed to be like

I understand the ethos of it doesn't taste like crap it won't cure you, but couldn't they have added some strawberry essence into the mix?

Siren gargled with then tried to kiss me goodnight. Felt like I was kissing someone who had been eating charcoal...and I've had the back door to the kitchen open for the last hour to try and fumigate the place. Minging stuff.

I'm sure she'd love that as I'm not a kissy person whereas she loves a good tonsil grapple.

I guess we're back to the old marmite scenario - you either love it or you don't lol

For those who don’t like the taste, you could always try gargling with Trichlorophenol
