I just watched The Post (starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep).

No people flying.

Nobody jumping through spacetime.

Nobody turning green and throwing cars.

Just dialogue, drama, tension etc.

I'm bored of made-up fantasy worlds. This world has some great stories to be told about it. Why can't there be more movies like this?

Really good film and know exactly what you mean. One that is similar in style and in my opinion an even better film is Spotlight.

"Have you seen Joker?"

No, and not likely to.

I've said this on another thread too but can't recommend this enough. It's a thinking movie where it puts you in the place of the character and asks what would you do... And there aren't any right answers.

'Gone, baby gone'

'Gone, baby gone'"

Not the exact requirements, but makes me think of Truman Show.

I think The Trueman Show is a great film. It's kind of hyper-reality with a lot of exaggeration but I'd say that's real-world rather than complete fantasy.

It's constant superhero stuff, Sci fi and over-the-top action movies that I'm so tired with.

I gave up on 'hollywood' a long time ago- anything full of FX is usually light on a decent script and storyline.

most of the best films i've seen recently are based on true stories

Great film. Emotional. Stunning special effects and sound design too.

Cheshire

Cinema Paradiso

The Lives of Others

Life is Beautiful

Koyla

Amelie

Kontroll

A very long engagement

Subway

I could easily name a few more, no action films but drama at the heart of each film. Not one from Hollywood either
