Well deserved win for japan

Scotland not even close to the same intensity and skill of the Japanese players

Something not right with Scotland set up . They can’t keep hoping for miracle catchup performances and then claim to be a strong team that can take on any of the top 5 teams.

They were well beaten tonight.

Jamie Joseph has definitely got to be in the running to take over from Steve Hansen.

He and atony Brown were a great team at The Highlanders.

As a life long Scots supporter the first half was dreadful. A few years back I was really pleased in when Gregor wss appointed Head Coach and injected.pace into the Scots game. But the Scots can't keep playing catch up rugby. If they do they have to win.

The great thing about sport it is in your hands whether you win or lose and in pool games you can put yourself in the driving seat to get through. With Scotland all I ask is that they play well and today they did not, although the Japanese were good the All Blacks would have punished the number of turnovers and misfiring lineout.

I am more pi##ed off than gutted.

. Who are the underdogs all the teams that I and 99% of the rugby watching public armchair fans or otherwise with exception of Scotland have made it into the quarterfinals. When the knockout stage starts next weekend I fully expect New Zealand , South Africa , Wales to beat the underdogs in their quarterfinals the hardest to call for me is England v Australia my gut feeling is a England win.

Anyone get me? . I don’t mind admitting I am one of the clueless armchair supporters that only watches rugby when the 6N or WC are on.I think if you were to ask most people which players play for which clubs they wouldn’t have a clue WC & 6N are what brings fans and armchair supporters like myself together supporting their countries or my case New Zealand as growing up they played a free flowing game of rugby that was different to anyone else as well as my £100 on them to win the tournament

I’m not sure your £100 is safe "

. In knockout tournaments where there is a World Cup at stake regardless of the sport no bet is ever safe.My reasons for New Zealand are that historically Southern Hemisphere country’s have won every rugby World Cup bar one and New Zealand are the best Southern Hemisphere country currently playing. That doesn’t mean they will win as sport is unpredictable but to my way of thinking they have more going for them than the other 7 nations left in the tournament

I think its possibly the best game if rugby I've seen for many years. Well chuffed for Japan, just a shame it was Scotland who had to lose out.

Well, good luck Japan.

One of the few teams to win 4/4 matches.

I went down bookies and put £10 on them to win the tournament.

Fingers crosssed.

Yes, Japan were super.

It would have been maddening to have been knocked out by the weather.

When you are knocked out by the better team. there are no complaints.

That's Ireland and now Scotland they have turned over.

Just been reading an interesting article about what was going on behind the scenes pre-match by the officials, organisers and services.

These guys made a match happen that mostly likely would have been cancelled anywhere in the UK or Europe. Officials slept on site to make sure they could assess things first thing after the storm. Four bodies were found at dawn outside stadium and an further five recover before the match ended. Would they have played it if in UK?

Just a quote...

"Japan all the talk has been about how this World Cup is about omotenashi, Japanese hospitality. The word doesn’t exactly translate, but, in the sketchy understanding I have of it after four weeks here, it’s about doing more than your very best to please your guest."

...

Ok. It's quite simple though B. Just download load a VPN, I use a free version of Turbo VPN, and the ITV hub app. Then open up the VPN and select free, search UK and select, give it a few seconds to start and keep running in background. Open ITV app and search the live rugby or highlights.

Southern Hemisphere style coaching ... makes a huge difference . Scotland were heading that way under Cotter.

I’m reading commentary now that Scotland need to stop being so nice and develop a rugged nasty style of play up front ...

Townsend and his quest to play the fastest brand of rugby has been implemented at the sacrifice of that stern vern attitude that was developing so well ..

I think he will keep his job for the moment but wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some changes in the other coaching staff - maybe Danny Wilson is replaced.

It will be a big 6N for Townsend ... if it’s more of the same - he will be gone

I wouldn’t be surprised if the SRU are already, quietly having a look around

It says three week, but the way it’s explained on the IRFU page is that it’ll mean the three World Cup games(should we make it to the final), or the 1/4 final game plus his first two games back with Connacht(assuming we don’t get past Saturday).

Either way, he’s a big loss!

actually..... with the new zealand game in mind, I think Joe would have been more likely to go with ringrose and henshaw at 12 and 13 anyway as that stiffens the defence in the middle.....

My understanding is that it was a 6 match ban, reduced to 3 by mitigating circumstances (no malicious intent, proximity of the 2 players involved, loose ball etc).

Apparently, Ireland have flown out a lawyer, so I'd guess an appeal is likely.

The lawyer was flown out for the hearing, he’s been there since Sunday, according to the IRFU statement.

"My understanding is that it was a 6 match ban, reduced to 3 by mitigating circumstances (no malicious intent, proximity of the 2 players involved, loose ball etc).

Apparently, Ireland have flown out a lawyer, so I'd guess an appeal is likely.

I sit corrected.....or at least, updated.

Thanks for that.

Hmmm that’s maybe a step too far... it takes a while for the paint to fade ..

At least you recognised it as a penis.

Others have previously asked why I have a surfboard as an avatar
