There and to the left a bit |
I think it can depend - some are fairly persistent and some despite you having told them umpteen times before that you're not interested always seem to fail to take you off their list as they promised the 15 times before that they called.
I appreciate that it's not the individual that is calling's fault but the company that employs them - but when they are your only means of speaking to said company it does make it difficult to keep your cool sometimes |

The ones I used to get were ones who didn’t check for TPS registered numbers or wouldn’t take a no thank you gracefully. I was only rude if they persisted in ringing, now thanks to having the answerphone on all the time, caller display, withheld numbers are blocked and number blocker I filter out all of the unwanted calls! |

I don't mind being cold called so long as they don't lie from the outset.
I could be wrong, but if someone phones me and they have a strong Indian accent, I get a little suspicious when they tell me that their name is Keith Jones. |

True story. I’m in a pals shop
and the phone rings. “ hi it’s xxx from the yellow pages, is it convenient to talk right now?” “ not really” says pal. ( yellow pages always ringing him so he’s pissed off). “ oh, can I hold the line, will you be long?” Says xxx. “ dunno” says pal. “ I’m having a wank”. “ ok, tell me when you are done and we can chat”. 30 mins later yellow pages caller hangs up. |

Just negotiate with them
When they call I just say...
Tell me what you are offering and the terms in under a minute?
If it is something I'm interested in I ask for their best terms... Push them once more
You either get something very cheap or I put then phone down.
Drama all done in 5 minutes.
It either saves me calling a number that if I call on my terms takes 20 minutes to get through to
Or Im better informed about current prices and deals.
We are all busy but are you that busy you can't save 20 minutes of your life or spend 5 minutes
It's saved me thousands of pounds over the years |

I have had calls asking me about the car accident I have had.
First off, they do not my name, so I say what accident are are you talking about as I have so many.
Then I say let me start at the beginning, it was 1986 and I just passed my test, I had an old mark three cortina, I had an accident but was sure it was not my fault, then in 1990 in an escort I had someone hit me, then they hang up, and I try to say you have to listen, afterall you did call me...... |

When I get the car accident calls come in I tell them I'm still in hospital then when I get put onto a supervisor and he asks what injuries I have I don't understand why he puts the phone down when I tell him I'm still in a coma and I need them to help me |

They are - but like I said when it's the umpteenth call from the same company who have each and every time promised to remove you from their list (their words not mine) it's no surprise that people get pissed off.
Back in the early 90s I used to get anything up to three calls a day from Zenith Windows at a time when I was working shifts so would usually be woken up by their calls - despite numerous attempts to have them stop calling and me being polite and courteous, simply putting the phone down and more - I got so fed up of it I said "Yes, actually I need the whole house double glazed and a conservatory and the sofits doing" and arranged an appointment for one of their salesmen to pay a visit - at the allotted time I made sure I was out and stayed out for another couple of hours after - eventually came home and within minutes there was a knock at the door and yep was said salesman wondering where I'd been!!
Politely explained what had been happening and that after all the time of mine they had wasted I was now wasting theirs and I would be arranging an appointment and doing the same every time they called after that. He promised me faithfully that he would see to it - a week later the calls started again - took me three times of doing the same thing for them to stop. |

We got rid of our landline because of constant cold callers. These days if I get cold calls on my mobile I ask them to remove me from their list if they call again I report to the ICO. Amazingly I get very few cold calls these days i am probably on their block list |

When you get up to 6 calls a day, every day when you're trying to run your business its very difficult to not get annoyed with them.
Sometimes I put the phone down straight away, sometimes I go along with them before making an excuse. I never ever buy anything from a stranger, cold caller without research and I don't think I ever have.
Two things, they interrupt my work, how do they expect me to be happy about that. Plus if they didn't want my money, they wouldn't ring. |

I don't have a personal gripe against the people who make the calls who are just trying to earn a living.
I do have a serious gripe about companies whose business model is to call people randomly and play the numbers game by lying to people in the hope one of their vague statements applies to somebody by chance.
"We have been informed you had a car accident in the last three years that wasn't your fault..."
"We're calling about the loan you took out in the last five years."
Lies lies lies. I'm sure as hell not going to do business with a company whose strategy is to lie to me, and I'm not going to make it easy for an employee whose job is to deceive me.

The last accident call I had, I said yes, I have been in one. They asked the outcome. I said I was seriously killed, but as my name is Jesus, I made a miraculous recovery. They had a little laugh then hung up on me |

The thing with selling is to qualify your leads before you target them, otherwise you're showing them absolutely no respect to someone you expect to hang around on the phone t doorstep and talk about a new conservatory when they live in a flat or to buy a Bentleywhen they don't own a license......! Its rude..... |
