Not me, I’m not that old!
You just go out for lunch at our school. If you chose to go to the chippy, you went to the chippy.
You could use the school canteen, but you needed your school card and you had to put money on it. And you couldn’t put coins on it. So at least a fiver at a time. And nobody’s keen for that |

"Nope. I used to save up my dinner money to buy fags "
Someone at my sisters school is able to ask her older siblings to buy her fags. She then sells them £1 a fag
They were £1 a fag in my day, nice to see prices are still the same |

We used to get them from a dodgy corner shop for 20p each . But then that was 10 years before you would have been buying them |

I never bought them! I was good, my friends always bought them though.
Plus, my mum and dad were smokers back then, and my granny goes to Turkey five times a year and would bulk buys fags for everyone. Hundreds of packets at a time. So I would take them instead |

"We weren't allowed out of school at lunch time back in 1812
Especially if you were a girl
Only girls at my school. We still used to stand on the loo seat and smoke though "
That explains why you weren’t allowed out! |

When I compare my school to others it seems like a convent |

I can remember 10 B&H for 14p, and a pint of Mild & Bitter for 11p.

I (Hev) got free school dinners so never skipped them, it was one set meal back then. My mate took packed lunch and gave me her banana nearly every day as well.
We didn't smoke 10p fags in the loo but we did something a bit evil.Lunchtimes we used to get the paper sanitary towel bags, wait until someone went in the cubicle , then fill them with water and throw them over the cubicle door. Until we got caught by the dinner lady x

Parents gave me money so I either went to the chippy or the shop. My last year at school I dont remember buying anything at the canteen except toast in the mornings. I havent changed much. Just thats pretty much what I do now. |

(In my mind I'm picturing a butterscotch angel delight dusted with the contents of a Hoover bag) |
