Fan of both though not everything. The Star Wars reboot has sucked but not as bad as the prequels. Star Wars isnt about the sabre's though. Had a debate yesterday on Facebook about which is better; light sabre or the phaser from Star Trek. Concluded that a Jedi woth his 'sword' and the force can deflect anything a red uniform clad Treki could throw at them. There is still an argument raging as to where Spok would fit into Star Wars universe |

Star Trek/Star Wars both 'meh' - although I did used to watch Next Gen, (back in the days when we only had 4 TV channels - and no internet).
I'm more of a Stargate fan, myself. Got all the SG1 and Atlantis seasons. |

"I love them both.
Deep Space 9 was a bit pants though."
Blasphemy... Its a bit hammy and sisko foes chew the scenery even more than shatner
But this was the firat show on TV to try an arching storyline that included multiple factions.
That is now the modern standard
Think Sopranos, walking dead, GoT,breakingx the wire |

Star wars. Though parts of trek were quite good.
The thing between them is that while both are science fiction, Star Trek is actually based on science fact.
Star Wars is more fantasy than Sci-fi, it's only true connection to science is that it is in space.

star trek writing, star wars fx
I watched star trek growing up and the writing molded the man I am...I've got no shame in saying that.
It takes a freaking robot and an alien to show us what humanity looks like

Imagine every argument on the Internet was handled like this

"Yes to the first 3 Star Wars.
Now, not a fan of both."
This the first 3 were great films and captured the imagination of a generation the others that came out are very forgettable with characters introduced purely for merchandising it'll be even worse now Disney has the rights with their motto of "watch the movie buy the toy" and as for star trek I've always enjoyed them until the new films came out just can't like them for some reason I am looking forward to the new Picard series though |

It wasn’t the first. Babylon 5 beat them to it. Even a suggestion that they pinched the idea during preproduction talks |

I like both if am honest.
Star wars has some great story line but the prequels are non existence to me, and the squeals are OK.
Star trek has so much variety to it being set over many different branches ( original, TNG, DS9, Voyager....) when it comes to games of them star trek wins.
The star wars books on the other hand offer so much in between story and back stories that the movies miss out.

It’s this light sabre thing. Really a sword ???

Remember the Star Wars was made by Akira kurosawa fans... hence the swords in space... |

Star Wars, saw the original as a child and grew up with the sequels. Obviously the reboot was a disappointment but recent films have certainly made up for them and Ja Ja Binks
No issue with Star Trek either, certainly looking forward to 'Picard' on Prime in January |

Trek all the way, Wars is a children's series of films, people say Trek is cringeworthy but come on, fucking Ewoks!
Trek has social commentary and has an influence on people's lives. How many times do you hear someone say they went into science because of Star Wars, or joined NASA because of Star Wars....never. |

I love both, had more enjoyment out of star trek and the spin offs.
Loved the oringal star wars 4,5 and 6. Enjoyed 2 and 3. Couldn't get my head around the recent ones and the middle one with a different storyline was shite imho.
Must dig out deep space 9 and voyager...mmmnm 7 of 9 |

Both."
All the original star wars and original Trek for me
Prequal Wars is poor script writing.
Force awakens is a new hope remake for girls
Last jedi was just white man trashing.
Trek films are up and down, 1 slow , 2,3,4 are the best 5 the worst 6 is just extended episode. 7 is the captain cross over 8 is Borg and is excellent, 9 is lame, 10 is really bad.
The Trek JJ Abrams verse
1 is good reboot, 2 just slaps the fans in the face and 3 is the best one. |

Really like both, but only really the Trek movies, not so much the series.
But as I'm awkward, I do feel the need to say that the reboot of Battlestar Galactica might have been better than either... |

Star Trek. The body of work is just so much larger and far longer lived. Over the piece, it is of far higher quality, too. So many more stories - and Jim Kirk was Han Solo before Han was even a thing.
Star Wars is just simple, good vs evil, entertainment for children, like Harry Potter. There's nothing wrong with that - the box office proves it - and The Empire Strikes Back is a brilliant film.
All that said, you don't have to choose - and they're not the only Sci-Fi in town. |

I love them both, but The Last Jedi replaced A New Hope as my favourite movie of all time.
