Continue here, it is interesting to see what we all are doing and what is your fitness goal? I am going today and I am doing a full body workout. I go 3 times a week and my goal is to bulk up. I am doing a slow bulk, here is a tip to find out your maintenance calories search for tdee calculator, mine is at 2700kcal, so I add a small surplus of +300kcal, if you are going on a cut, do the opposite by eating -300 kcal

I actually am. First time for about 3 or 4 years. I’m a little excited and a bit nervous as it is safe to say I have let things slide a little (lot) since the last time I did any training

Hiding in the shadows

Oh I'm missing training.

I'm finally able to decorate my house after almost 3yrs of building work.

All my free time is going onto that right now.

I'm still being active, on the go.

The amount of furniture I've moved, built, boxes I've carried up/downstairs has certainly been as tough as any gym session.

But I'm missing my bars

Changed up my routine this week. I’ve been following a Dorian Yates training plan for the last 6 weeks. You do 2 sets of 10-12 of between 50-70% of your 1rep max then 1 set of the heaviest weight you can do to 8. It’s really worked and I’m really impressed with myself of how much I really can lift.

Now back to 3 sets in a 12-10-8 fashion for a few weeks before switching it up again.

3 or 4 weight sessions and a session of spinning, definitley getting leaner

As usual, it's calisthenics for us (plus weights for Mr ABC) though I've added 2kg ankle weights to some of my routines recently which has made a positive difference.

Our goal never changes. Maintain flexibility, maintain decent core strength, stay fit and healthy

The ‘warm up’ sets feel like you’re cheating a bit but when you hit the big weight on the last set you really go for it. Me and my training buddy have seen a much better strength increase in this last 6 weeks than we have previously. I can PM you the link for the workouts if you’d like?

Strictly speaking, I'm weight training for weight loss with the welcome side effect of growing some big sexy muscles. However, in practical terms I have nowhere near the willpower to cut down on the chocolate and whiskey that bring such joy to my life, so I've pretty much just "maintained" for the last year, and my sexy muscles are hidden under a nice insulating layer of podge.

I was in the old gymnasium this morning, exercising my tits and nearly getting myself into bother. I've taken a week off from it (new tattoo across my shoulders I didn't want to aggravate) and apparently lost some strength because of it. Loaded the bar with weight I can definitely handle, but on the 7th rep it stopped halfway up and refused to go the rest of the way to the top. I must have looked a right loon thrashing around and red faced to get it up the rest of the way and onto the rack, rather than crashing down onto my chest.

I trained today, did 20 mins of interval sprinting and then worked the abs for a bit.

I'll be back tomorrow to work on arms (biceps, triceps, and forearms), Friday = leg day, Saturday will be shoulders and back, then Monday for chest and repeat.

I'm in better shape now than i was when i was younger, quite enjoy my gym time. I go during work to break up my day, cubes me time out of the office as well as some time to clear my head!

Hamstring stretches on those wobbly plate machines (sorry I don't have a clue what they're called) generally ease mine significantly when they decide to tense up.

In all honesty I wouldn't like to risk it. What if you burst your stitches? That would just make your healing process even slower. If it was me I would wait until fully healed. 2 weeks isn't that long to be honest

Hiding in the shadows

"Just off to Bounce class

First time in a month

I may die Have fun and let us know how it went "

I have vertigo, no coordination & the grace of a baby elephant.

I spent most of the class, squealing and frantically waving my arms around trying not to fall over

But I bloody love these classes, good to be back

Hefty Hideaway

I adore your way with words Phoenix.

I'm scouting for a new PT still so I'm trying out a plethora of classes to see which one could tolerate me the most. So I have Spin tomorrow with someone I haven't pestered yet. I'm not looking forward to it. However I did circuits yesterday and I didn't die so that is a huge win for me.

There and to the left a bit

After my first ever visit to a gym for an induction earlier today I can say I'm "in" - slightly bamboozled by the various machines and what order to do them in but will get there - the PT that did my induction recommended trying to go three times a week doing one day on lower body, one day cardio and one day upper body about 40 minutes each time

We'll see

So I restarted my gym routine after a break. Easing back into ot has taken longer than expected but progress is being made.

3 times a week for me with a possible 4th for pure cardio dependant on how I feel.

Any tips or recommended plans for building muscle would be appreciated.

2 sets 6/8 reps heavy

1 set low/ medium weight to failure

3-4 different exercises on each muscle group so you engage multiple muscle heads

Thanks.

Somthing I have noticed is that my right shoulder seems to almost give out far quicker than my left. It extends more than it should which causes discomfort and pain stopping me from working out properly. I have resorted to high rep, low weight to try and build flexibility and strength.

Furthermore, when doing higher weighted exercises, I get a painfull tingle that runs down my arms and into my fingers.

I plan on going to the gp if it continues for another few weeks but if anyone has some info in the mean time, I would love to hear it.

Yes, it didn't go well.

Been feeling a little off, nearly blacked out on last set of deadlifts

30 minute rest, chocolate bar, did some 2 second paused bench which was surprisingly quick then called it a day.

Banging session tonight

4 x 2 paused squats, good numbers on them tonight

Loads of volume on bench, speed work on deadlift, some back accessory work.

Calories on workout days are 4300 at the moment, 3700 on non workout days.

Doing abit of rowing, generally 3k km (anyone on skilltrack?), leg press (60kg), armpully down thing (40kg), free weights: bicep curls, push up thingy, chest press, fly and tricep dip (8kg each arm) and then ab work

Aim is to strengthen my core

Would like to do standing weights (snatch??) and pull up / chin up things when stronger

Numbers matter when doing progressive overloading, which is key. I think numbers do matter, but so does full range of motion and correct form.

Yes numbers matter but again if your a strength athlete or competing in bodybuilding/physique/bikini comps. For most they they don't.

Form is a different matter, quarter squatters, hitched deadlifts and bounced bench should be banned

I’ve noticed definite changes in my muscle definition and strength so I’m not overly concerned with the numbers tbh - something’s obviously working. But I do tend to shy away from increasing the weight when I’m sure I could manage slightly heavier... it’s a psychological block more than a physical one
