"Shame for Namibia as they played well, still some high tackles knocking around, sort it out NZ "

I didn't think that match was that bad for high tackles. I reckon it's going to get harder and harder for the tackler when the player being tackled goes low. One of those yellow cards, he was on his knees!

does anyone else have anymore info at the moment with regards to the impending typhoon and the ireland vs samoa game...

because if the game isn't move and is cancelled then it is considered points wise to be a "scoreless draw".... which would mean that if scotland beat japan, they would both go thru from the group!!

"

i think i have found my answer....

good news.... bad news....

Super Typhoon Hagibis had initially threatened Ireland’s key match against Samoa in Fukuoka on Saturday, but has altered its course and is now zeroing in on Tokyo and Yokohama. It has escalated from a tropical storm into a super typhoon with wind speeds estimated at 160mph in one of the most dramatic intensifications of any tropical cyclone since records began

so the ireland game is safe........

bad news......

because of the shift in direction.... the games now under threat are the games in yokohama.... which are the England vs France game on saturday, and the Japan vs Scotland game on sunday!!!

If Scotland beat Japan then the winning margin has to be more than 8, or Japan pick up losing bonus point and finish on 15 points and qualify

If Scotland beat Japan with a try bonus point then again they would have to make sure Japan don’t get a try bonus and the winning margin greater than 8 bonus as well.

You don't really want people traveling in a hurricane. I do think that they're not cancelled it yet because of the possible outcome. If (like the England match) the group was already decided then they would have just cancelled it.

Even if it was a an indoor stadium they can't guarantee player and match officials safety getting to stadium.

Scotland would need a huge win against the hosts and then hope ireland didnt beat samoa which is extremely unlikely.

The england group was already decided, france couldnt catch england

The city will be on lockdown. No public transport so travel would not be possible regardless. They are saying the typhoon should have passed by the time of the game, but obviously mother nature is not that clear cut. It also depends on damage that might have occurred.... loads of ifs biuts and maybes....

We won’t know until Sunday.

Every effort is being made to ensure Sunday’s matches will be played as scheduled. A thorough assessment of venues will take place after the typhoon has passed before a final decision is made on Sunday morning.

world cup semi final 1995....

they had a weather storm so bad that the original game was delayed

you have to go and watch it... because i believe that if it had not been the hosts in that semi (and they would have lost if the game had been cancelled because of countback on red cards) there is zero chance that game got played...

The biggest issue I have with it is that these teams have been training, going through selection, making game plans, learning new moves, trying to peak at just the right time, for 4 solid years. Then all you get is 3 games. WRC say bye-bye.

These games should be played. Whether it's down the local park with just the squads present it doesn't matter. Results of all games determine the outcome of this & every Rugby World Cup.

to be honest with you... if i was "france" and they watched wales bruising game with fiji yesterday, knowing they still have to play another game on sunday.... and you good me the chance to duck the hardest game in the group and get 14 days off to rest and prepare...... I'd absolutley snap your hand off!!!!!

same with england... 14 days rest to prepare for the aussies.... yes please!!!!!

even more for new zealand.. they played their 2nds against canada... they basically gave their 1sts almost 3 weeks off while japan/ireland/scotland have had to fight their tails off!

the only team i feel even remotely sorry for is italy, but they would have needed a bonus point win again new zealand to go thru, and lets face it... never happening!

I don't think any team or any coach would want 14 days off in the middle of a tournament.

You don't necessarily need to be playing the top teams but you need to keep playing to stay battle hardened.

More importantly. I'M BORED... I need my Rugby.

Yep, a lot of hard work and rehab to get back into it. I’d have the same sympathy for Parisse too, though. Back bone of the Italian side for a long time and very little to show for it.

This RWC will be remembered for all the wrong reasons, unfortunately.

It's same pitch for both teams though so no advantage or disadvantage to either team.

I'd say the organisers have explored every possible avenue to make the matches happen, but relocation of match isn't as easy as some may think. A big factor is also the safety of all those concerned, including the thousands who would consider risking to travel in the light of the storm to watch the matches in new location.

It's just unfortunate, but it's one of those things that can happen, much like someone unintentionally getting sent off and suddenly having to play with one less man.

World Rugby rules state that "where a pool match cannot be commenced on the day in which it is scheduled, it shall not be postponed to the following day and shall be considered as cancelled. In such situations, the result shall be allocated two points each and no score registered".

Is it acceptable to decide one doesn't like the rules after one agrees to them and enter the tournament? Can a player argue with a ref about a rule he doesn't like?

It's tough luck for said teams but if allowed where does it all stop?

True its bad luck for scotland if it happens but to threaten legal action is bad form.I remember in 95 s africa nearly didnt make the final due to bad weather but the sun came out 1/2 hour before it was abandoned otherwise they would have been knocked out by france on the discipline countback rule.

"World Rugby rules state that "where a pool match cannot be commenced on the day in which it is scheduled, it shall not be postponed to the following day and shall be considered as cancelled. In such situations, the result shall be allocated two points each and no score registered".

Is it acceptable to decide one doesn't like the rules after one agrees to them and enter the tournament? Can a player argue with a ref about a rule he doesn't like?

It's tough luck for said teams but if allowed where does it all stop?True its bad luck for scotland if it happens but to threaten legal action is bad form.I remember in 95 s africa nearly didnt make the final due to bad weather but the sun came out 1/2 hour before it was abandoned otherwise they would have been knocked out by france on the discipline countback rule. "

I don’t really think the legal action thing is bad form tbh.

Put yourself in their shoes. You’ve put 4 years of work in. That’s massive commitment from the lads, management, back room staff, families etc, then have your final do or die game snatched away. It must be massively frustrating. I feel for them, even though they’re in our pool.

Legal action never works for the good long term. It would have long term detrimental effects upon a sport which up till now has kept itself 'clean' and less tainted than athletics and football as far as sportsmanship goes.

Yes I get what you say about all the time, energy and commitment, which I may add they're paid to do, but when a team then thinks it's above the rule makers and organisers, they'll be remembered for all the wrong reasons and not about the nature and essence of the sport. I feel for them but think it's a wrong move. I hope they see sense and don't for the sake of the sport and tournament. It would set a precedent and potentially floodgate other tournaments.

Should Ireland respond to the Hakka with their historical way of entering battle?

The fast players of the team stripping naked, the slower players stripping their top half naked at least. Slapping themselves, screaming, and entering a frenzy?
