was someone from my old electric/gas supplier and asked for me by name so thought it was a genuine issue.. then i spent the next 5 mins saying 'im sure your deals are great but im happy with british gas thank you'...

I just say 'can you hold on 2 secs' - put them in speaker, push the mute button and see how long it takes them to realise I'm not listening!

After all - they're wasting my time - so I'll waste theirs gladly!

And it buggers up their call volume targets!

i put the phone, still connected, right next to the tv and turn it up full blast...soon gets rid!

i used to work as a cold caller,and the most annoying thing was when someone used to drone on about family life,,i do that now when we get a cold call/sales call,lol

I dont know how it works now, but years ago it was 20 minutes before a call disconnected itself. Id say i was just fetching my husband and leave them. They couldnt disconnect the call had to wait 20 minutes

Log on to Tps, register your telephone number and after about a month, no more sales calls

i had someone trying to tell me that my partner didn't work in IT and i didn't know what i was talking about when it came to setting up online with a website etc... so i told him to take his hard push sales pitch and shove it up his arse because he doesnt know me, my business, or my boyfriend. and to have a nice day.. then i hung up on him.

Just had a sales call, told them that we had registered with the TPS a while ago.

They said that as a former customer of theirs they can still make the call, so I just put the phone down. For once it wasn't British Gas.

Do remember they are people at the end of the phone, working. Please don't harm or damage them.

Hang up or put the phone down and do something else, maybe a pretend row with some in the house.

If I have the time, I chat by changing the subject or playing along. The row is good, if it's a woman calling, the woman could pretend is the other woman and has a go at the man or reversal, mostly they hand up on me
