So I saw a thread earlier about clowns and how scary they were. I went to the circus and I thought the l the clown was hilarious, I love those guys. But I'm scared of butterflies, and one of my friends is scared of balloons
What are your irrational fears? |

"Needles. "
Is it the fear of pain from the needles, or just the thought of them in general? And is it only needles that are generally jabbed into you for blood tests etc or does it include sewing needles too? |

"Needles.
Couldn't agree more lol as a 6"3 big bloke as well, it doesn't do much for my macho image
I need regular blood tests. It's not good! "
That's not good! I'm lucky as I very rarely have to deal with needles. Even seeing it on TV makes my sphincter clench shut lol |

"Moths so similar to you OP
See I don't mind moths terribly, they're more predictable, they go towards the light generally, but butterflies are just too erratic "
The always seem to go for my face. |

the questions are icky.
It's the irregular intrusion into my skin. Splinters are the same. Rusty nails etc worse. |

It's taught me to be less scared than I was, but it's still pretty awful. |

I guess that's a slight upside to it, but still not nice. I think the last time I had to have one was when was about 9 and I stood on a rusty nail that went into my foot. The needle was worse than the nail! |

Canals. It's not that irrational really but yes. We've got a beautiful canal path walk about ten minutes walk from the house but I'm too afraid to do it. It looks daft when I type it out! |

I didn't. I meant whales. However whales IN Wales might be even more scary
(it's actually a scale thing. My brain struggles to process how something that size can be alive and it properly creeps me out if I think about it) |

Oh that's a new one, do you get scared just seeing them? Is it the thought of touching them? I find this very interesting "
I get in a bit of a sweat if I have to drive through a long labe of them and I 100% could not sleep if there was one in my bedroom
Don't ask me why as I do not have an answer lol |

I wouldn't say it was a fear as such but I really can't cope with face paint or people in fancy dress. It makes me really uneasy and feel physically sick. I work with kids so it isn't ideal! |

"Needles. "
Same here until back in 1998 and 2015 when in each case, I'd Eye Surgery, done under Local Anesthesic, so I was awake throughout. Needles were inserted through the side of the eye.
The thought of it was scary to be honest but reality is it's totally painless.
Cured me of needle phobia. |

Hospitals.
I feel sick just driving past .
If I have to go in for an appointment or to visit I don't breathe through my nose.
I start to itch and feel trapped.
Once I'm done even just visiting I need to rush home, clothes straight in the washing machine and scrub in the shower.
Even when my mum was very ill I struggled if someone came to see me after they had been in . If they wanted to hug me or sit down on the sofa. When they left I sprayed the sofa and went for a shower.
When I had my son's I had a 4 hour discharge on my birthing plans. With my 2nd we left the hospital at midnight as I refused to stay over.
When I was ill a few years back I kept self discharging and agreeing to go back as a day patient the next day.
It's now on my notes that I have this fear.
The GP is trying to find ways to help but last time I tried to go to work straight from an appointment I just sobbed in the car at the thought and ended up going home first
It's quite extreme
I coped when my son broke his arm we were there for hours my protective maternal instincts took over. However as soon as he was settled at home I retreated to my usual habits of all the clothes in the wash and straight into the shower.

I was just going to say this.
Rats "
Is it just wild rats, or do the cute wee white pet rats give you the heebies as well? |

"Escalators. They terrify me. I'll find a lift half a mile away before I take a moving staircase from hell."
Is it the thought of getting sucked into it? I get that occasionally but with lifts I have another fear. Which I won't mention in case I pass it on to you |

I fell down our basement stairs when I was 7.
It is strange that stairs don't frighten me but escalators do.
Lifts, Cables snapping. Falling at a high rate of speed. |

"Up dislike touching slugs. I could deal with it but it doesn't have a major affect on meand is slightly rational, due to their slimy residue. "
I touched one last night, we keep a crate of beer on the back step to keep it cold, I came home d*unk and went out in the dark to fetch a beer, there was a big ol' slug on the top of the box that I didn't see. I was thinking "what's this slimy feeling thing.... oh!"
Weirdly it didn't bother me, I just washed my hands, sober I'd have been screaming! |

It's getting worse as I get older - the escalators on the tube make me really nervous - I just cant get the vision of one person losing their footing and knocking everyone over like dominoes |

It's not a fear but I am ultra careful and take things ever so slowly on any ladders and have to make sure I keep my contact at all times... This said, god forbid if I ever have to use a rope ladder. I would certainly freeze with fear then! |

Spiders defintely!
Raw meat, rotten fruit I can't have any thing to do with either and vegetables ... it's related to corpses although never seen a corpse that is why it's irrational
Also holes! In any thing, just how it looks can make me want to throw up! It's visual though, so I think it's not so much a fear but a general disgust of anything with holes in. I found out it's an actual thing though, called trypophobia.
Please don't think I'm weird! |

I've heard of Trypophobia before, I learned about it after seeing it on American Horror Story:Cult. You probably shouldn't watch that |
