I think the fun of dressing up is being able to switch between the 2.
I'd favour the girl next door look slightly more than glam, but I would frown on any person who doesn't glam up when the occasion requires it. |

Both and everything in between. I like women to be happy expressing their individuality in whatever way they feel is right for them and the circumstances ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

As a guy who has always hated the taste of lipstick and the smell of warpaint, I prefer a girl who usually needs no, or minimal makeup.
However, it is still nice if she knows how to apply it properly, for special occasions, without overdoing it. |

Everyday life I hardly wear makeup. I dress up but when I do it’s not for anyone else and likely doesn’t meet expectations. I don’t wear heels, I favour doc martens, I wear whatever eclectic combination of clothing pleases me. I see a lot of “dress to impress” on this site and it makes me giggle as I’m not sure what it even means! I do put makeup on when we go out for an evening or a meet but it’s minimal, and I’m comfortable in my own skin even if I don’t fit into a box. I like people to dress and be how they like, that comfort and confidence is so attractive. - Mrs |

By expectations I mean the “normal” or current trend way. I don’t need to apply eyebrows, or eyelashes. Just a bit of makeup and I go. It makes me feel pretty but by modern standards I probably don’t look like I’ve done enough. If I put on a full face I would be too uncomfortable to go out. It’s just not me except when I feel like creeping back into full goth with the makeup haha but I don’t do that for going to meets or the club. - Mrs |

Absolutely this I hate when guys say "will you wear xyz for me" - I'm my own woman, not a fantasy dolly for you to dress up. I'll wear what makes me feel attractive, thanks

I’m so relieved you agreed. It puts me right off and gets my back up. One asked me to wear something risqué to a social only meet and serve him a drink... I lectured him and then blocked as it came across so creepy to me. |

Ha, nicely done! I figure, if you want me, you take me as I am. That's not to say I turn up snotty, in trackie bums and hairy legged like I am today, but don't tell me what to do, thanks! |

Neither really. I like quirky women. Either alternative or just have their own style. I prefer more feminine presenting women. I'm not really attracted to really heavy, Insta model style make up, as much as I appreciate the art of it. If I'm attracted to a women though I will fancy her whether she is in pyjamas or a posh dress. |

God no, the girl next door has a nice arse, but a face like a blind cobbler's thumb and can hold a note like a colander hold water yet still wails at the top of her voice ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

I would encourage any woman who met me not to wear any make-up. If I'm attracted to somebody, the could have just rolled out of bed and stuck on jeans and a T-shirt and I know they would still look fantastic. I love a natural look. I don't mean they should just let their hair grow wild, but they don't have to do much.
I would love women to feel more confident about how they look naturally. Dressing up all glam is not going to lead to me fancying somebody any more than if they were just pottering around the house.

There and to the left a bit |
It'll be said it's a cop out white knight comment but honestly, my preference is however they feel comfortable - glamour puss dolled up to the nines is just as fine as girl next door jeans and comfortable jumper as far as I am concerned so long as the person I am meeting feels comfortable and I can be equally attracted to either look or anything else in between. People have asked me before how they should dress when we meet and my response is always "I'm meeting you not your clothes, so whatever you are comfortable and "you" in" |

I admire ladies with the commitment to always looking glam, and they tend to catch my eye.
I make very little effort day to day, but like to pull out all the stops for 'special' occasions ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |
