When you get stuck behind a learner or a new driver do you remember when it was you or just get annoyed, lean on the horn and swear?

I drive behind them as slowly as they are driving and at suitable time overtake them.

Give them the up as I drive past

Honestly? It depends on how they are driving what they are doing and if their driving is scaring the shit out of me. I do tend to give them some space though and why not we all were learners at one point.

I usually give them as much time and room as I can, but some instructors put them in situations they are unprepared for!

Rather than knocking new drivers what about the drivers who been on the road too long. Had plenty of incidents with really old drivers who haven’t got a clue what they are doing can hardly see and think 15mph is too fast.

I often do sit back, then have s chuckle to myself when I remember the stupid mistakes I made during my lessons.

right now you've reposted lol. I removed mine because it quoted yours

I reluctantly believe that everyone over a certain age (except me obvs) should take a brief assessment type test yearly and everyone who uses the road should be tested bi-annually on the highway code.

I bet half of them don't even know how to change a wheel if they get a puncture, let alone top up the oil and water in the vehicle that Mummy and Daddy has bought them

I passed both ma bike and car tests firt time within 10 days in 1981, I know there wasn't as much traffic on the road in those days, but it does grind ma gears how many people are given a pass certificate and struggle to parallel park or reverse into a space in a supermarket carpark

Both my daughters passed first time recently their test much more involved than we we took our tests. And as for bike tests I took mine in the days when a guy had a clip board and was on foot. My daughter has to take three tests all being followed by another rider and do the theory test so new drivers def not just handed a licence and as I said in previous post it’s the dodgy old codgers crawling along that make my blood boil

I passed my test a couple of days ago.I try to build my confidence up by going out on my own but the amount of idiots that tail gate blast there horns shout abuse or overtake then you meet them at the junction down the road lol.Was that worth the rage to get to the same place two seconds in front of me lol.I was pulling out onto a busy fast road yesterday and there was cars flying past so fast so I waited until it was clear. The guy behind me got out of his car and came to my window and shouted just go you stupid little bitch.Whats wrong with people do they go into rage anger nutter mode as soon as they get in the car.shouting screaming and acting like a nutter doesn't help someone when they are trying to do something they are not use too

I feel for you my daughter has black box to keep insurance down and because she has to stick to legal speed limits she gets abused too. If I’m in the car with her I let the arsehole behind have piece of my mind. We were all learners and new drivers once

some people get really angry when they're driving, there was no need for him to behave that way.

Would it be possible to get some practice in during quieter times?

Yeah I know what you mean, there's much more to it now. One of ma mates got lost on his bike test and rocked up back at the test centre wondering where the clipboard examiner was. He came back about 10 minutes later with a bemused look on his face

One of ma ex's Mother had passed her car test but wouldn't drive on the Motorway, I think that should be part of the test nowadays as there are so many more Motorways and Dual Carriageways about than back in the day.

As for "dodgy old codgers" we call them Sunday drivers lol

Why not try putting up the Green "P" plates on your car? It depicts you're a newly passed Test driver and can alert other drivers. My instructor recommended them to me when I passed my test and they helped.

I don't think it's about me I think it's about having p plates on my car. There was cars in front of me taking longer to pull out if the same junction yet he didn't explode at them.I think he was just like a lot of the rage drivers they think that driving like a nutter and clenching there fists around the steering wheel as soon as they enter the car makes them the fantastic drivers as they can overtake shout and scream.Ive drove twice without my p plates and no one bothered me yet the other times with my p plates it's horns and idiots overtaking. Its like they automatically think that a p plate is a excuse to bully a new driver yet the ones that are bullying are driving like absolute clowns

We advised our kids not to put p plates on for precisely that reason. I didn't mean to imply it was your fault by the way, I just thought there might be fewer angry idiots about at quieter times.

I suppose it depends on where you live and what your schedule involves, but going for a drive in the early hours of the morning when there's less traffic about should improve your confidence perhaps?

Is that like listening to someone learn to play the guitar?

Give room and just be happy I am not doing it nowadays as the amount of traffic makes things more difficult.

As for "Tiny" he more than likely did it because he just see's the car in front, rather than looking further head and your a single female, doubt he would do same to me.

Says alot about him really.
