Just watched a news story on a Power lifter who has to eat 7000 calories a day to be competition ready.
Sounds simple. Yummy even, but i imagine having to do this every day week in week out must get boring.

Yes, the trick is to eat relatively small meals but you end up eating about 8 or 9 a day. It would get extremely boring after a while though as well as they tend to be large amounts of fish or chicken to keep the protein up. I wouldn't want to keep doing it for ages though. |

It's hard work, maintaining that level of caloric intake! Competitors on the Tour de France (or any of the other Grand Tour events) average a daily calorie burn of about 6000 calories, and most can't compensate fully whilst being able to ride each day. They usually lose some weight during the race. |

I would say there's plenty who consume that easily.
Example how many calories in a big Mac meal with a large full fat ?
Some people consume vast amounts of high calorie and high sugar fizzy drinks .
I remember hearing about a woman in the news who lost over 12 stone literally by "just" cutting out the two 2ltr bottles of iron bru she drank a day !!! |

"It'd be tough but I think I could cut back to that if I really had to..."
Haha if its post-skinful of vodka then I would definitely have to work hard to get it down to 7000 ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

Big Mac, large French fries, and large Coke (32 oz.), in the format of a food label. The entire meal would provide 1360 kcals, 58 grams of fat, and 95 grams of sugar. For a person on a 2000 calorie diet, this meal would provide 68% of the total calories, 89% of the total fat, and 57% of the sodium recommended daily. |

If someone else prepares the meal possible it will just be my new lifestyle, if I have to prepare the meal then no. The big powerlifter always has to eat 7000 - 9000 calories. Michael Phelps for example, not a powerlifter was consuming about 9000 - 12000 calories a day, Arnold Schwarzenegger was in is golden days of my universe was eating a whole chicken daily I remember hearing that somewhere. Someone like the Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has to eat at least 3-6000 calories daily to maintain his physique. |

I base my diet on the protein which I aim for 6 small meals at 50g each. I never count calories, I just consume easy digest carbs and cut them back in summer so I'm a bit leaner.
Never a six pack as I like food tooooooo much lol |

Your also forgetting that most of these guys are on roids so being hungry isn't an issue for most it's finding the time to prepare and eat the amount of food they consume, so will set an alarm for the middle of the night eat a meal and go back to sleep.
Also someone who is 6ft 8 and over 300lbs train's for 3-4 hrs a day.
7000 calories isn't a lot that's a maintenance diet . |

"For a lot of power lifters and strongmen 7000. Calories isn't a massive amount.
Two 2000 calorie shake's alone and your halfway there.
Most of the big guys are eating upwards of 10000 day!!!"
You're right. When Eddie Hall was training for worlds strongest man, he ate 8 meals per day all totaling 12,500 calls. I'd struggle to eat half of that. |

When I was competing, I'd eat at least 5,000 daily
Due to having a large part of my lower intestine removed, I can only consume so much volume a day.
I would eat 2 main meals, the rest would be protein based shakes |

With! Pizza crunch, if you're gonna fry it you might as well batter it first! |

In my racing days, I'd consume 4,500 calories a day, which being little over 8 stone, took some doing. I struggled to take in more, even though I needed to, as I was still losing weight at that, with my training regime.
I imagine for a power lifter, it's easy-peasy |

up untill two weeks ago i averaged 3000 to 4000 a day since i got the all clear from the docs in april to start training again after loosing a lot of weight after a bike crash and two big surgeries.its hard work getting it all in but do rely a lot on protein and build up shakes.im cutting back for a few weeks as eating all that for training is giving me a major buddha tummy even with training . |
