Mercedes far better than BMW. They used to be one and two but BMs are nowhere near as good as they used to be. If I couldn't have a Merc I'd go for an Audi or Volvo |

Volvo build quality and safety is fantastic, I had a xc60 and a c70 and an s40 as company cars when I worked for Volvo around 2011 only a few weeks at a time but I’d say the S40 drives as well as a 3 series |

Last 5 cars have been: Jag XF, Range Rover Evoque, Jag XF,Audi A5, BMW 5 series.
First place = Jag by a long way.
Second = Evoque
Audi & BMW both v poor in comparison.
No recent Merc experience BUT just got 69 plate Lexus which after 1500 miles is far better than the lot.

I have 2 cars...well, one is provided by my employer and is a 4x4 SUV. My own car is a bit of a sleeper. Now don't laugh, it's a Peugeot 407, but it's the 2-door coupè GT, with a V6 2.7 twin turbo Jag diesel engine and Porsche semi-auto transmission. It's been chipped to just under 300hp and will match any BMW or Merc up to 155mph.
And the best thing is, it's not a BMW or a Merc |

As I’ve said before only ones worth having are the m powered Beemers and the same for the merc has to be amg versions and rs models for the Audi’s the rest are just boring diesels have you checked out the Alfa’s op very nice looking much better and less common than the premium German saloons |

Neither,depreciation from new is crazy,second hand can seem cheap,but people buy thinking eithers a bargain,but running/maintenance costs are still high,so don't get looked after properly,much better transport,or posing options |

Motorbike. New Honda Rebel 500cc. I had a test ride and fell deeply in love. I did have a BMW motorbike which was lovely. But car wise I'm happy with my Renault Megane Convertible. |

Company I worked for in the past, wouldn't have BMW's or Mercs at all.
Instead, they opted for upper range Honda's, Volvo's, Range Rovers and Jags in the fleet, none of which ever failed us.
Personal choice for a few years was a Honda which was a beaut of a car.
Worst one? Renault Clio! |

I would agree with that but brexit will push the prices so so high non of the German autos will be affordable in November.
I can't see that lasting long, the uk market is huge for German cars. They'd have to become affordable.

I see idiots in all makes of cars these days. I do a lot of advanced professional driving in my line of work. I drive an Audi for work currently and have had both BMW's and Merc's as well. I prefer the Audi's personally. My choice of car does not define what type of person I am it's a personal preference nothing more. Until recently I would have said Mercedes. Which model depends on your circumstances but I love the look of the SLK or CLK. Unfortunately since the Chrysler tie up build quality and reliability has been shocking. I switched from Mercedes to Ford |

My Jag is smoother, faster, immeasurably more comfortable and pound for pound a better car in my book. My god the heated and air conditioned seats are amazing.

I would never ever ever buy a BMW again. I had a 745 E65 that spent once a month at the garage. I called it my "Friday Afternoon" car. At 2 yrs old, I spent 12,000 in one year on repairs, servicing and tyres. I had to sell it at a huge loss. I can't tell you how disappointed I was.
So Mercs for me all the way. |
