The singer Jessye Norman has died at the age of 75.

A giant of the vocal world she is one of the worlds greatest singers.

Shocking really... only 74 ... I first saw her years ago at the opening concert at the Royal Glasgow concert hall singing the last moments of ‘Salome’, then lots of times in recital and an unforgettable night as Kundry in ‘Parsifal’ at the Met.. The audience were in awe of her as soon as she set foot on the stage.. such charisma..

With the bbc Sso and sir Alex Gibson.

I didn’t hear here then, but did a few years later at the GRCH as part of the great divas season - an evening song recital.
