Hmm, I guess they're one and the same to a certain extent. Both are pretty one dimensional labels, with an inherent condescension of tone maybe? Both are probably myths. Is anyone truly 'vanilla' and/or 'normal'? |

Sex is sex! That is all! People float the word vanilla without knowing what others do in the bedroom, to me, both sayings are pointless as others like to project their own feelings without knowing what they mean or what goes on behind closed doors!

To me vanilla sex is things like oral sex, hand jobs, fingering and PIV sex. Everything else is the different flavours. The best sex is when you mix a few others with vanilla to make a wonderful sundae. |

Ask 100 people that question and you'll get 100 different answers - one persons "normal" is another's "off the scale kinky"
"Vanilla" tends to be used nlt necessarily in a derogatory fashion but certainly as a way of describing something somehow "lesser" than the person describing it's version of "normal".
I first came across the term when I discovered the BDSM/kink scene and it was used to describe anyone that didn't have an interest in that scene.
Either way, vanilla, normal, kinky are all just terms with different definitions for different people - does it really matter so long as those involved are enjoying themselves? |
