This was tried a little while ago but I thought I'd give it another go.
After conversations with newbies and more seasoned forumites over my time here I've realised that there is a huge amount of trial and error that goes into the first few months and meets. Sometimes it's just a learning experience, sometimes it has the potential to be a bit more sinister.
In the interests of helping newbies to find their feet, to be safe and just how to make things work for them, I thought we could try a buddy system.
State that you're in on the thread and I will endeavour to pair people up (newbie with experienced forumite) to ask questions, share experience or just have a natter!
Please note; this is meant to be helping, not as a way to engineer a meet!

Anyone who wants adopting by me, or who would like to adopt me, feel free to message. Since I returned to the forum its been a little like the scene from my favourite film, Forrest Gump, where Forrest gets on the school bus for the first time.... "seat's taken....!"
