Breast screening HRT and a lump
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hi guys..just looking for a bit of input especially those that have had the same worry.
last month I had a routine mammogram no results back..the NHS are back logged.
Last week I found a tiny little lump so went to the docs today and I have to go back for another mammogram. whilst there I asked for more HRT and he said no not until the results.
So has anyone been on HRT, found a lump and had to stop HRT immediately.
I really do not want to feel symptoms of menopause unless necessary.
So my thoughts are surely another month won't hurt but then I think I'm being ridiculous suck it up and stop the HRT.. |

I'm not on hrt,I'm not allowed due to having cancer in the past, however I've had lumps in my breasts and they have turned out to be 'fatty lumps '.
It's probably nothing to worry about but worth getting checked out.

Sorry I can’t say I have, I know it’s daft to say not to worry but most breast lumps are benign. I do worry about the increased risk of breast cancer but again it’s a very small risk. I hope things go well for you, and hopefully you’ll get in the clinic and cleared soon x |

I am getting it checked asap the appointment should be fairly rapid but it's stopping the hrt that's really bothering me.
I've ever the optimist about the lump.
I hope that you are now well..what did you do instead of the hrt x |

My mum had a mammogram over 20 years ago. They found a lump and when they biopsied it, they discovered it was a very aggressive form of cancer. After surgery and some radiotherapy she was finally given the all clear.
Hopefully it won’t be so serious for you, but Mum is still going strong and I am so thankful it was picked up early. |

"no experience but with something like this I'd trust the doctor.
I hope and indeed trust that you will be back on HRT soon
"
He wouldn't even have mentioned taking hrt if I hadn't asked for more. I've still got my patch on, due to change it tomorrow..if I do. I'm been googling stuff but it's not helping x |

Oh I'm just going with the flow, it's the hit flushes that are doing me in at the mo, coping with the rest. |

I know that if it’s a fast growing malignancy issue that it feeds off of oestrogen. That’s why they don’t want you to have it, it could cause it to grow more rapidly on the slip chance that it is that. Fingers crossed that it isn’t and you’ll be right and back to normal ASAP. - Mrs |

I’m unable to take HRT because of a strong family history of breast cancer. I’m now a menopausal woman and I don’t take anything for the symptoms. I do think that the menopause is one of the best kept secrets though.
I don’t know much about HRT but how long does it stay in your system? Are you likely to feel any menopausal symptoms in a month? I don’t know enough to help unfortunately.
I hope everything goes well for you. I have had two recent scares, it’s never easy x |

There is a choice, you don't have to take the doctors advice. I admit that I trust doctors less and less now, I've been given so much conflicting information that I tend to make my own mind up as far as possible. However with something like this I think I'd stop the HRT. |

I've been looking for information on google but not finding what I want. I will give myself time to digest and probably when Friday comes will stop hrt x |

2 scares jeez that isn't easy and I hope all is well and stays well for you. And menopause well that is something else too. I know not life threatening but life destroying (or can feel like it) for some.
I think the symptoms will be back very soon once the hrt has been been stopped.x

Hi Anabelle don't know if this helps but my wife is on HRT and recently had a lump then a mammogram where the lump was actually discovered to be a benign cyst (which they drained) but they did say it could come back (within one menstral cycle but it hasn't yet that was 2 months ago). She was also very concerned but in the end it turned out OK. Not sure if this help but best of luck and hope it all teens out fine. |
