Ladies, just interested if this actually happens to you in real life, you read about it in the media and it’s a term often used by feminists, but is it something you’ve ever experienced or do you think it’s just a modern invention. Just wondered if this is actually a thing and if it is do you call the man out on it ?

I'm amazed you haven't encountered mansplaining.

No and I think feminism is going a little too far. I still like doors to be opened and to be treated like a lady. I do not like the feminists who want to rewrite history. The latest thing is to take out all the sexuality offensive words out of the the dictionary. Can learn a lot from history good or bad.

Yes or assuming you have little knowledge on a subject because you're a woman. I recently had a male friend mansplain to me how something effects businesses after I shared something online. He said it was hear mongering and was trying to spin it as a positive. I explained how it specifically affected me and my business and how his positives did not apply to me. He then proceeded to get upset with him for "making him feel like he was being an asshole" after he agreed that in my situation, the thing I had shared did actually apply. Which is why I shared it!!

So,(as a man), this is when you have fucked up, but you are trying to still paint yourself in a good light, because whatever happened or whatever you did was everybody else’s fault and definitely not mine!!!

I haven't really encountered it either. Maybe I just seem like I have my shit together and don't need talking down to?

.

A few times, OP. It makes me eyeroll hard. I don't know if it is mansplaining though or someone just being a bit of a twat. Women do it as well and talk down at me like I don't understand really rather simple things or something I'm passionate about/my field of work.

Yep, it happens or exists, I fully expect a man to pop up and say “well actually” and explain why it doesn’t . -Mrs
