"and as your the driver of the car, its you at fault not the cyclist.
The cyclist is able to walk and has just a few grazes...
what would you do next?"
So what happened next?
Surely if it wasnt your fault ( although your getting the blame) and he is fine, then end of? |

Actually I was the cyclist, and I put one of his car windows in with my fist! |

Well that is different of course, but when a driver goes out of his way to make it difficult for a cyclist, be aware of the aftermath, so the moral is, as you have all said, if your gunna hit a cyclist, make sure he doesnt get up afterwards haha |

What annoys me is when I was taught to drive, I was told to treat a cyclist and bikers as if they were driving a car.
So give enough room etc etc.
So why dont cyclists and bikers do the same?
It annoys the life out of me when they squeeze between you and nip into small gaps. |

I agree, I cycle most of the time but drive too, coming in this morning I had an argument with another cyclist for running red lights, told him cause he is on two wheels, your not immune, obviously he wasnt happy that another cyclist was telling him how he should stop at red light, called me a few questionable names and peddled off, I caught up with him at the next junction and punched him in the head, see there are a small minority of us cyclists who do abide with the Highway Code. |

Cyclists always seem annoyed. Might be that itty bitty saddle up there jacksie that does it. You now have me thinking of how easy it would be to knobble one on a country road and strap him up while he was dazed |

Should think so too !!
If everyone else on the road has to pay insurance why not peddlers who scrape peoples cars when they are pissed off with drivers!!

Well the country roads round here are full of the blighters - have to admit when you are stuck behind them so long as they are quite fit and in their nice tight lycra shorts its not too bad a way to spend a min or two .......... xx xx |

Walk away? or in your case peddle"
been knocked off my bike 3 times in the past 10 years, walked away from the first cause the women who hit me was more in shock than I was, the second was a white van who's passenger thought would be funny to hit me on the head as they drove past, I had the last laugh there too. so walking away if you can that is, isnt always the best path to take, specially when it is the driver of the vehicles fault |

Ok now I am confused, you had a row with a cyclist and punched him but it is the three motorists fault who have hit you in the last ten years?

the row with the cyclist was this morning cause he was going through red lights
The women who hit me thought she could turn left before I got to the corner too.
The passenger of the white van got a slap for hitting me.
And the driver who thought he could fit in a gap before I got to it got a broken car window.
any clearer? |

Very clear, it just wasn't relavant to me commenting on how you could have walked away instead of punching a man. |

TBH, I think the author of the op, is part of the problem that people have with cyclists.
Punching someone's window in, punching someone in the head? Maybe you need anger management classes?????
I cycle daily to work. Case of having to, I'm not allowed to drive, because of a medical problem. However, I am allowed to ride at 20mph on a major A road during rush hour!!! Go figure. |

The ones who piss me off, press the button on a pelican crossing, then when the lights change for them to cross, they cycle from one footpath to the other and go on their way.
Its a 'pedestrian crossing' ffs not a bloody cycle track! |

As a cyclist, I do. Best lesson for safety is to own your patch of road. If you squeeze through gaps as if you are tiny or non-existant, then people will treat you that way. So if there's any doubt if a gap is big enough to squeeze past me, I'll move out from the kerb so it is bloody obvious that nothing will pass.
At a couple of bad junctions near me I usually make an overt move in into the middle of the lane to avoid the problem. When passing side roads I'll move away from the kerb so no one has any thought of trying to nip past and turn across me.
Having said that, I only go on roads for a short distance to get to fun off-road stuff. |

i'm a motorbiker, and if i had just a penny for every time a car/lorry/bus driver has said those emortal word "sorry mate i didn't see you " i could clear the national debit, lol , but honestly who can't see a large white ex police motorbike with its headlamp on realy ought not to be on the the road, but as for cyclists i've been nearly taken out by many a silly fool who thinks red lights don't apply to them, and as for the fools who ride in the dark with no lights and reflectors, well they are going to get whats due to them, be it from plod or the poor unsusspecting car driver, and even then the car driver will be accused of being at fault |

Here in Spain we are cyclist friendly, much like most of Europe. Unfortuately, UK is a little behind in Pedal power. Maybe try wearing a policemans outfit or dressing up like noddy, folk will certainly take notice then lol |

As a motorcyclist of 25yrs experience i have been knocked off by "sorry i didnt see you" gits(one taxi driver got hauled thru his window and his folly explained to him)and i always treat cyclists as i would any other vehicle. Only one gripe and thats why the f**k do they have to go about in clumps of ten or more? If we did that on motorbikes we'd get arrested. Bloody inconsiderate! Hurumph! |

is it a local race thats being trained for, can't think of any other reason why you'd see cyclists in large groups like that |
