Seriously? My kids dying before me. It’s the only thing that scares me shitless. Heights - fine, I like to peer over the edge. Wasps - swat ‘em, snakes? Stroke them. Spiders - chuck ‘em outside (although, I must admit, without touching them). Clowns? Haha! |

I used to have nightmares of my daughter dying in front of me..
Other than that, the only thing that scares me is the thought of losing my mind to dementia..
Not scared of dying, or injury, but slowly losing my grip on reality? That scares the fuck out of me. |

I (her) the thought of my children and my partner watching me pass away and leaving them all is scary if I let my mind go there.
On the other hand the thought of me losing my children or partner forever scares me more.
As far as fears and phobias are concerned I am afraid of butterflies, moths (basically night time butterflies) and spiders. |

My biggest fear is something happening to my son. I have had a lot of loss and I have to weigh up letting him be independent and the risk of something happening to him. I try not to mother him and give him as much independence as possible.

Fear is exactly the same as any other feeling, it's a chemical reaction designed to illicit a response, and with enough practice can be mastered and controlled.

That's correct, what I think the person is saying is that some people are conditioned to be able to suppress those fears, they still have them but can control the Flight Fight or Freeze reaction. Military and security forces and such like. |

Same as the OP, wasps and heights. Took me 20 mins to get the bnerve to walk onto the glass floor in Toronto's CN Tower....
Also, the irrational one, having my hands / fingers stuck together. Can't even stand sellotape on them. Just the thought brings me out in a cold sweat |
