Why do people put this on their profile? Do you think that smokers spend all their lives stuck at home? Most of us have flown long haul you know we are capable of adjusting to the situation and have flown for 14hrs at a time and didn’t start sweating nicotine or turn into a raving axe murderer from the lack of a fag !!!! Do you intend a meet to last over 14hrs? If you do then maybe you should be on match.com come on people get real. |

I won’t meet smokers, that’s my choice and I’m entitled to it.
Equally as it’s your choice to meet a smoker, or a 36 year old, or a slim woman.  |

How about I have a very sensitive sense of smell and taste that can detect the slightest hint of smoke. Given that the taste makes me physically sick, sue me for having it on my profile. I've got real. |

Because some people can’t stand the smell or have allergies to it.
No matter what a smoker tries to do to mask the smell, it still lingers.
There are plenty of individuals who will meet smokers, so it’s not like you are being ostracised

Because are deluded and think they don't still smell after 14 hours without having a fag. The reality is they do smokers smell their cloths smell their hair smells and although that won't bother some many it does. |

I don't enjoy the smell or the taste, and if I'm looking to meet for a good time I shouldn't be expected to "adjust to the situation" / suck it up.
Just accept that it's a preference for some people, as much as it is for some to only meet tall men. |

I know there is one lady on here who suffers from very bad reactions to smokers.
I smoked, if I was meeting someone who didn't. Yes I could go without a cigarette prior to meeting them & while together.
I'd be showered, hair washed, clothes would be clean before setting out
But I had smoked in my car previously.
By the time I arrived, I'd have some trace of it on me.
Now I'm quit, I'm extremely aware of the smell & how hard it is to cover up |

The reasons have all been laid out above OP - but as an ex-smoker myself who used to think sucking a mint and not smoking for a couple of hours was all it would take to hide the smell, you may not be aware of just how much the smell is obvious to non-smokers.
Since I quit, I've actually been quite shocked at how noticeable it is on others - personally it doesn't bother me in the slightest, but for some it does and you have to respect that completely.
To look at it from a different perspective - I notice you have a number of things on your profile about people you won't meet - how is someone not wanting to meet smokers any different from you not wanting to meet those people? |

Can't say I know anyone who does thankfully, but it's a dirty habit and one that would, I imagine, result in some fairly rank smells. Fingers, breath etc.
Having grown up around smokers, I dislike it greatly and it's my choice to not meet them. In the same way I wouldn't knowingly meet anyone who are shit  |

I smoke but never when I’ve met someone, apart from overnight or weekends. It’s on my profile. I get totally get why people won’t meet smokers. Although never had a “won’t meet smokers” not want to meet me even when I point out that they don’t and I smoke!!

As always there is more than meets the eye for certain things and preferences.
Aside from the obvious: it's their choice and one that should not only be adhered to and not attempted to cover up, as that takes away their right to choose, but one that should be respected.
For all you know one of these people was abused by a smoker and the taste and smell could instantly take them right back to that time.
Brains can be a funny old thing, we may not always agree with peoples preferences but you must accept that people are choosing what right ... FOR THEM.

Not everyone would be able to go without.
We don't like the smell or the taste that hangs about it doesn't just disappear because you cannot smell it.
We are very much against smoking for personal and health reasons and we want to meet people who have similar outlooks and views on things. If you have more things in common with a person the fun is going to be better. We were conned recently by a supposed non smoker I could tell within a couple of seconds and it ruined the mood completely. It's people's own choices who they meet. It's no different to a couple saying they don't want to meet single guys

Because it - yes, including other things you might smoke - makes me physically sick. Including in public. Fortunately, unlike other areas in my life where I must risk my health because of inconsiderate smokers, fucking is optional.

Just like the old "What do you prefer, Circumsised or Uncircumcised" threads that pop up in the forum almost daily.
Everyone is entitled to their choices, but I'm sure the women who seem to dislike foreskin, won't turn down a meet just because someone is uncut.
Also the same it seems with Straight men, meeting other men or going to Gloryholes. Despite being 100% straight. Maybe it's the flexibility that the interwebs can bring.

I met a guy whose profile said he wasn’t a smoker. We had a social and a quick kiss, no problems.
I met him at a club, we went into a room and once he started breathing more heavily, all I could smell and taste was smoke.
He was a lovely guy who I’d have really liked to see more often, but that put me right off.
He smelt clean, and his clothes smelt clean but you can’t get the smell out of your lungs in a few hours.

Tbf you probably have preferences and other people do it's as simple as that.
I do think it's the biggest lie on fab though, most smokers I have met lie on their profile and say they don't smoke anyway.. |

3-4 times a week is still a lot to someone who doesn’t smoke though.

You can sugar coat it all you want but it's still misleading I'm afraid.
If somebody doesnt want to meet smokers or 420 and you dont tell them that you do (even if you dont think they can tell) is wrong.
If you do it, say, meet people on your wavelength. Just dont be misleading and above all, respect the other persons wishes.

I smoke only when I drink, so Friday nights and occasional Sundays if I go out, so I don't even smoke 20 a week. I accept other people's right to choose who they want to meet so I'd never try to hide it or rant at them about it. It's their choice. |

We’ve met guys for a social and even though it says non smokers on their profile they’re out ever 5 mins smoking. They’ve received a polite “not for us sorry” and we’ve left and the just don’t understand. Its our personal preference and our right to chose who we do and don’t want to ply with for what ever reason we see fit, smoking, for us, is on the avoid list. |

The smell and taste when kissing of a smoker is off putting and whilst you might be able to last 14 hours between cigarettes some can't and have to rush off every five minutes to stand outside and have their fix. |

I smoke, but I did once go 10 whole minutes without one once, and would much rather know if potential meets were OK with smokers or not. Totally understand why many people wouldn't meet smokers so have no issue with this at all. |

If you're going to announce that you're a smoker on an open forum, why not say so in your profile.
It may be that you can't smell any kind of smoking residue on yourself. You may have been able to pass yourself off as a non smoker at some fab meets. There will be people who will be put off by you though even if they cannot consciously put their finger on why. |

Plus having a smoke on a Saturday & having a meet on Thursday isn’t going to have any effect whatsoever. I couldn’t even smoke a cigarette without throwing up from nicotine rush... |

I’ve enjoyed sex parties with a select few for a whole weekend. Why do I need to go to match to find that? I just don’t like the smell and yes, you can smell a smoker if you are not one. |

It's still dishonest. I only smoke usually on Fridays but I still state that I'm a smoker, it's about respect for other people's preferences. |

I'm not a smoker, neither is my partner. But smokers are fine with us. And don't mind people smoking around us (preferebly in a well ventilated space). However personally I'm not a fan of a woman smelling/tasting of smoke so the use of a mint is much appreciated. |

Why are you being so aggressive about it? What sitting at home and going on long flights has got to do with it has got nothing to do with anything. Just because you can go 14 hours without a ciggie it doesn't mean you will.
We just find smoking disgusting. It's as simple as that. It looks awful, smells awful and tastes awful. There's a specific option presented on the site about smokerd so some people choose to use that option. Why should anybody apologise about that?
