If you haven’t read the Daily Mail online comments section or read comments made on a YouTube video you might be unaware of this phenomenon.
The more you look, the more you see it. This morning on my drive to work it’s across a junction that’s always busy, people in the wrong lanes trying to go a bit quicker, playing a bit fast and loose with the red traffic light. I’m sure you’ve seen it before.
It’s always a bit of a bun fight but with the tiniest bit of give and take we can all get through.
However the only explanation for the occasional person who sees a car blocking the way and actually accelerates towards them, eventually braking hard and sounding the horn is because they want to be outraged.
Is this an emotional need? Does it come from not enough hugs as a child? Do they have a sense that anything “unfair” needs to be stamped out with facist level vigour?
It’s here on Fab sometimes too, but I can’t quite see how making a situation much worse is justified. What’s your experience of this?
To;dr: people are odd |

I think there's a need to find identity. Who am I?
In the absence of clear identity, we can identify by who we're not. I'm not a jerk driver, sort of thing. And that kind of tribalism can be quite emotionally satisfying in the short term. |

It’s the modern world. We are indoctrinated to feel offended about everything. I’m offended and because I’m offended I’ve been mistreated in some way, my rights have been impinged.
The press, the TV and Politics trade on being offended and speaking up or ‘acting up’.
Your driver was ‘offended’ that someone dare block his way.
It’s all bonkers. Really bonkers. People should chill |

We moved ourselves from Essex to Wales, I made twelve trips over last winter. Another Immigrant here summed it up in one sentence.
"Did you remember not to smile at anybody once you got past Reading?".
Bloody spot on she was. People are too wrapped up in lifes pressures, Add the me,me,me & oneupmanship & its just a constant battle against aholes.

I know I have this desire. Sometimes I will see somebody is going to do something that's against the rules and I will want to do something withing the rules meaning they get in my way so I can huff and puff.
I try to check myself and try to work out whether rule-breaking actually matters before I get involved. I try to be self aware and just let it go if it really doesn't matter. |

"Its mainly a man thing OP women in general drive smarter. "
I agree for the driving part; women seem much better than blokes on average.
Are you saying that women don’t get outraged about other things? |

I avoid The Daily Mail's online forums at all costs.
However, I was reading today that people are cancelling their RNLI subscriptions, due to an inflammatory piece about how a small (2%) amount of their income is used in water safety projects abroad.
It makes me very sad. |
