"According to a draft document from the Equality and Human Rights Commission, "Girls' rights are IGNORED so that transgender pupils are free to use whichever school toilet they want, equality watchdog report suggests. Girls uncomfortable with this will then be advised to use a private changing room." The Commission states that pupils who identify as a different gender should be allowed to use changing rooms of their choice at schools. My view is that this ignores the rights of all genders and where possible, separate changing rooms should be provided for transgender kids. I also get the feeling from 21st century UK that if somehow the rights of just the boys were being ignored, nobody would care. What's your view? " Can you post a link to the document please?

The owner of that newspaper has been one of the prime movers in stirring up trans hatred over the last several years. Media needs someone to use as scapegoats, trans people are one of the last groups that they can do this to without general outrage. All that transgender kids want is to be able to have a piss while at school with some level of dignity. No transgirl or transboy has the slightest interest in spying on other kids. In fact they are the ones that get spied on, insulted, bullied, even sexually assaulted at a far higher rate than any others. Over 50% of transkids attempt suicide, too many of them succeed. Just let them go for a piss for god's sake!

"The toilets at my kids secondary school were gender neutral. All stalls and just ‘the toilets’. When I was at school we only ran into the girls toilets as a dare. " I think that Gender Neutral toilets are the way forward, many New Build schools have Open-Plan toilets where the only privacy is within the cubical. This stops bullying & smoking in the toilets.

"We have and have had transgender children in our school, they use the staff toilets. " I’ve had just one experience of this when I was child protection officer in a school. Lovely lad, decided he wanted to be female at 14, unsure how far down the line they got, at 16 he changed his mind. By 18 he was in a mental institution. By 20 he’d hung himself. Very sad.

"A boy is a boy a girl is a girl simple as that, the government is trying push this p.c bull#### on all levels. " Only it isn’t that simple for transgender people. There is a significant structural difference between the mind of both men and women. In transgender people, a woman who identifies as a man, has overlapping structural characteristics of a male and vice versa. It also goes beyond structure to functional characteristics, but research has been limited in this area.

I must admit, I was ignorant of the issue, but that was down to never encountering it personally and never really needing to look it up. My job lead me to a course that I rather enjoyed, in which they taught on transgender and the varying factors surrounding gender dysphoria.

" As soon as I pressed send I knew I’d get that reaction. Then change the title on the door to something more neutral. I’m aware they’re not disabled - also not all disabilities are visible. It’s a simple, straight forward, lo-cost solution to what is becoming a bit of a battlefield social issue. Personally I think disabled loos should be doubled up as transgender loos/ changing. For all the use, relatively speaking, they’ll get. They’re individual spaces that are safe for the user and also addresses the safety concern of Male/ female toilet users in those spaces. It’s a very quick and easy fix that doesn’t cost business and local authority any more money and utilises to the fullest, spaces which are less used. I know you probably meant well but transgender people are not disabled. The psychological impact of forcing a confused trans child and sectioning them off into toilets designed for disability could be very damaging. Oh for goodness sake! Really?! It’s somewhere to go to the toilet! We use the disabled toilets. My child isn’t physically disabled, she doesn’t really see herself as different to anyone else and she doesn’t need to. It’s hardly damaging her using a different bloody toilet! I thought you weren't getting involved haha" Im not lol. But some things I just can’t help it. I’m off now.

"'Anti-expert' mentality has lead to an increase in people refusing to vaccinate their children, which in turn has lead to the return of dormant diseases. I'll stick with the experts. Trans people just want a safe place to piss. Also, nobody is forcing children to be trans. It isn't easy to access treatment at any age, let alone those who are under 18." ???? Correct

Disabled toilets through their construction and design are there for a reason. Simply labelling them as something neutral doesn't disguise the fact that they are designed for disability. I totally understand your reasoning as "low cost" but simply allowing trans children to use the loos that relate to the sex they identify with doesn't need any cost impact. Honestly can't understand why people are getting so angry about this.

If allowing transgender people to use which ever toilet they please, a place that used to be considered a "gender safe" area, isn't that a possible cause for increased angst for a specific gender, in this case girls? I'm sure transgender children have enough problems with their own self-awareness - is it fair to pass that on to another gender?

You allow a male kid identifying as a female to use female toilets and that kid, make no mistake, will be bullied for it and vice versa, probably worse the other way actually in my experience with my kids and female bullying. Other girls won’t feel comfortable with a boy identifying as a girl in their toilets either. Not all but many won’t. Things will change, but it needs baby steps (and I’m not angry about anything, I’m a realist).

"Someone else mentioned earlier in the thread that these kids and adults identify as.... This small word put everything into reality. We have the ability to make choices , decide things and identify with things too. People can identify themselves as whatever they choose to but the stark reality is that truth doesn't run on identification. Truth deals in reality. Your gender will mot change no matter what you think, say or do. Now if you choose to identify as something other than what you are. Go ahead, but don't try and present it as normal or a matter of fact. It isn't. That's the reality. " Usage The word gender has been used since the 14th century as a grammatical term, referring to classes of noun designated as masculine, feminine, or neuter in some languages. The sense denoting biological sex has also been used since the 14th century, but this did not become common until the mid 20th century. Although the words gender and sex are often used interchangeably, they have slightly different connotations; sex tends to refer to biological differences, while gender more often refers to cultural and social differences and sometimes encompasses a broader range of identities than the binary of male and female Origin Late Middle English from Old French gendre (modern genre), based on Latin genus ‘birth, family, nation’. The earliest meanings were ‘kind, sort, genus’ and ‘type or class of noun, etc.’ (which was also a sense of Latin genus).

I think it's great kids feel comfortable enough to go to school and be who they feel they are. I just can't imagine gender neutral toilets at the school I attended- would be sexual assault central. I think it depends on the school, mine was dead rough, so wouldn't of worked. " It’s the law to have disabled loos in a business now. I believe. "In the 90s they said that talking about gay people in schools would lead to child abuse. Now this decade they're saying the same thing about trans people. Fearmongering, nothing more." But the birth rate in England and Wales is record low, never before seen rates. Russia went under the same problem, and hit 1.2 birth rate, which is population collapse territory. They removed gender politics from schools and children, and the birth rate has now gone to 1.75, 1.75 is still bad but its better than England. You need a 2.0 to keep your population standing still. It takes 2 people to make a baby, so a woman needs to have to children to replace her, and the guy when they die.

I have 5 friends around my age and all feel the same. My two cousins and my sister is the same. That’s nothing to do with gender politics.

Well, quality of life is a fairly open-ended concept, but how about professional sports and medical care for example? If gender neutrality was the law, how could it be applied women and men's physical health? I read in an NHS report that they spends 14% more of their budget on women's healthcare, which doesn't make the NHS gender neutral in respect of costs. And then there are aspects of sports' competitions where the high prize money may look attractive enough to some who may "temporarily" change their gender. In my life experience, there is always someone who will take advantage of a situation such as this.

"I educate my kids to be respectful, tolerant and non judgemental about choices people make and how they choose to live their lives. That being said, what I do have a major issue with is this social engineering agenda that's been thrown in my face 24/7 and is now being pushed on to my children; who are still maturing physically and mentally and shouldn't be exposed to these issues they are unable to fully comprehend. Yes, I do have a problem with drag queen storytime where they sit with 4 and 6 year olds and expose their vulnerable, impressionable minds to these concepts. Yes, I do have an issue with teenage boys who identify as girls being permitted to participate in girls sports and having an unfair advantage. Yes, I do have an issue with someone being able to identify as the opposite gender and being able to use their bathroom on a whim. Yes, I found it reprehensible that Lewis Hamilton had to offer a public apology because he told his young nephew he shouldn't wear dresses as they're for girls. Whenever someone is critical of this agenda they're automatically labelled as transphobic and the issue of "rights" comes up. What about the rights of the vast majority of people who do have some issues with the kevel things are reaching? What about the rights of girl athletes? What about the rights or feelings of discomfort that girls or women experienced having biological men use their bathrooms? What of the rights of parents who don't want their children exposed to these concepts at an early age? This is what the silent majority think but don't express for fear of being shouted down by a very vocal minority. The issue of gender neutral toilets or not is the symptom of a far bigger problem."

So you would rather quell the uncomfortable feelings of others at the cost of someone else's actual mental health and happiness? I bet your children watched shows with big talking purple dinosaurs or fictional made up Japanese animals or men who dress as a bat or mutant teenage ninja turtles in them but someone dressed up as a woman is too much for their vulnerable, impressionable minds? Really? Teaching them that it's ok to be who makes them happy is a bad thing? No one who tries to argue against trans rights has ever come up with anything half compelling in my opinion.

"I think it can be too much, my eldest at the age of 12 told me he wanted to be a girl; for about a month he was going on about it... what it was is that yes, he was horribly uncomfortable in who he was but it wasn’t because he really should have been a girl, it’s because he is socially awkward and was being bullied terribly. He found it hard to fit in and to him, this was the answer - the things he was being taught in school that trans kids go through the day as what he was feeling about himself. I knew what he was saying wasn’t true though, and I actively challenged him on what he thought he believed, not because I wouldn’t support him whatever but because I knew it wasn’t true. I can see how this may make me seem a bad mother to some, but if I’d have listened and encouraged him then, who knows what damage could have been done to my now strapping 16 year old, who is more than comfortable in his male skin" im biased but your an awesome mummy bear

In fact I applaud you're challenging and questioning of the situation but I also feel that you are not as closed off to trans as some on here would have you believe that they are. Had your son continued with his assertion that he was a girl, shown that this is how he sees himself, how would you have felt? It is the blind denial of some that is incomprehensible to me. Those that think simply seeing a trans person or someone in drag is going to earl their little ones mind.

"We have and have had transgender children in our school, they use the staff toilets. I’ve had just one experience of this when I was child protection officer in a school. Lovely lad, decided he wanted to be female at 14, unsure how far down the line they got, at 16 he changed his mind. By 18 he was in a mental institution. By 20 he’d hung himself. Very sad. " We currently have a year 8 child who has been referring theirselves as a he when born male, this started in year 4 in primary. Two other s now 18 have both changed their names via depoll and are treated as male one on hormone blockers one not. .

The gender clinics don't give out hormones and hormone blockers left right and centre. They don't give surgery at a drop of a hat. Even if someone does have a phase that should be ok to express that phase what ever it is and what ever time. But for many they've know their whole short lives and puberty becomes the most horrifying thing for them to be something they aren't. They don't need encouraging they need support and love. What will be will be and will fall into place. A brief moment someone thinking they want to change isn't a strong supporting case for any mental health practice or gender clinic. They don't work on whims. It takes people years to start hormonal transitions. Those who truly want to change won't give up its who they are. Those with whims and fantasy will not fight for what they want they won't battle through the stigma. So should anyone find their child expresses a wish to change gender then support them and love them. Thats all they need from you not encouragement because they will find their path without it

The issue of gender neutral toilets or not is the symptom of a far bigger problem." Spot on. The silent majority is right. Sickening that children are exposed to this at such an early age. Do what you want as long as you don't infringe or push your views on others especially malleable young minds. The transgender agenda is is the antithesis of the above opinion. Pushing this agenda hard is exactly what creates the "bigots" they claim are oppressing them. Feedback loop. I don't accept my body. I'm outwardly visually trans now. Accept my body bigot!
