Last Night of the Proms
Jump to: Newest in thread
First half on BBC2 now (Laura Mvula sing to the moon and saint saens famous aria Softly wakes my heart from Samson and Delilah - a couple of highlights to listen for in the first half )
Then from 9pm on BBC1 the second half with all the traditional stuff .
I say it every year, the highlight of the second half for me is right at the end - Benjamin Britten’s arrangement of the national anthem ...
If your watching / listening - enjoy |

"L'amour est un oiseau rebelle
Is one of my favourite opera songs.
Jamie performed it wonderfully "
The range of sounds truly amazing
She does a thing with her mouth, drops her jaw I think, which opens up another texture in the sound ...
Just brilliant |

There's nothing quite like feeling the vibration of the sound, the tension in audience body and hearing it.
Enjoy the pomp to follow soon.

"May I just say there are a couple of serious hotties on the stage.
Blue dress in the centre of the choir just below Sir Henry.
Scwingggggg. "
In the violins, green dress with a very sparkly belt.
Lovely!
That's it now. |

"Make sure you bob up and down in time
That was difficult to do in the car and drive.
Oh I can only imagine the bobbing and bouncing
Much better than sleeping policemen I’m sure "
I can bob to this bit. No sleeping policemen to aid and abet.

"Some say it's racist and celebrating the empire..."
For some it certainly is. I see their comments. They'll be frothing at having an queer American waving a rainbow flag.
The Proms as a whole isn't.
