We are buggering off to Majorca on Monday and have all the packing to do , I think we’ve got everything we need but just wondering if any of you have any tips on anything you have taken on holiday that’s unusual but invaluable? |

Pegs
Good for hanging clothes and good substitute for nipple clamps

"Thanks everyone, I think I need to make a list!"
remember that toiletries and even a lot of clothes can often be bought cheaper at your holiday destination. Save weight and bulk buying local and then leave it in your room in lieu of a cash tip for the housekeepers.

If not already advised, roll rather than fold your clothes, bring and extension cable and one travel plug if you have a lot of plug in appliances, saves on lots of plugs. If you have a case each, put some items of each other's clothes in both cases, just incase one ends up in Siberia. |

I have a Bose Bluetooth speaker I take on hols with me. It’s been invaluable for a bit of a party round the pool/cabana at times or when sat out on a balcony. It’s a BIG sound in a travel size speaker |

"Clothes, probably some kind of footwear, flower pot, some sort of bag
Flower pot? "
For putting flowers in obviously, what else would you use a flower pot for? |

"Here's a packing tip. If you roll up clothes and towels tightly they take up much less space than if they are folded. "
Wrong! If you stack rolls there are gaps between them. There are no gaps between flat layers.

I carry a vacuum flask of hot tea. I use it on the way to the airport, and empty what’s left before going through security. Then I get it re-filled at an air-side restaurant. I can have a hot drink whenever I like, in departures and on the aircraft, not just when the air hostesses get around to it. From home to Bangkok usually takes more than 24 hours, and I can’t sleep on aircraft because there isn’t enough leg-room. |

"A small roll of pedal bin bags. Smaller than black baga but perfect for rubbish, went cossies, carrier bags.
The list is endless"
I agree but I find the waterproof canoe bags are much better. Harder wearing, come in different sizes and colours, properly waterproof and once rolled up they have a clip that can attach to other bags or be used as a handle. Can usually pick them up fairly cheap at outdoors or sports shops |

At this thread! They're going on holiday, not starting a new life If you don't buy all this stuff, you can afford to stay at the kind of hotel that will supply it |

"Not an issue in Majorca but when I go to Greece or Turkey I always take scented nappy bags for the loo paper. Better than putting it straight into the bin. "
We are for Greece next year, that's a great tip |

Not much of a packing tip, which is what the thread is about
Not packing what you don't need, making the luggage lighter and more room on the way home in the bags for ceramic donkeys etc isn't much of a packing tip? You're a harsh critic "
But that's just it,the things are needed otherwise we wouldn't pack them |

Gravy granules, Rhino horn fertility pills, a months worth of crack cocaine, Heinz Beans and a flower pot were some suggestions that didn't attract your ire, but you feel they're needed? That's some kind of weird vacation |

"Pack less... whatever you have forgotten or left behind can be bought when you get there"
Reduces the weight of the aeroplane as well. Every little helps |

I always pack a few extra coathangers, especially the ones with clips at each end as there are never enough in hotels.
I also take a canvas cube organiser that goes over the wardrobe pole with velcro. It's invaluable for extra storage. |
