(Aka, cervical erosion) Saw the nurse on Monday and I've been told I have a large one, just waiting for a follow up with my GP next week. However, the nurse didn't say anything about sex. Is it wise to abstain? Or can I carry on shagging? Google is unusually unhelpful on this I'm not in any pain with it, just get a bit of bleeding after sex. |

Yes, at my last smear test, but mine wasn't large and wasn't giving me any problems after sex, just a bit of bleeding between periods at times. The nurse said I could carry on doing whatever I usually do |

Ooh thanks!
Mine only started since my last smear test at the end of July so I think the nurse must have triggered it somehow! I only bleed when it gets disturbed, like after sex and the swabs I had taken on Monday. |

"What else can make the bleed apart from sex or medical reasons ? Just curious "
I think sex or medical reasons pretty much covers it to be honest. There are a lot of reasons that a woman might bleed
Periods (obviously)
Implantation bleeding (that's when you're just pregnant)
Post birth
Cervical erosion
Cervical cancer
Polyps
Fibroids
Hormone imbalance
STI
Vaginal dryness
Rough sex, especially if you're not wet enough can cause bleeding
Fingering with sharp nails |
