So I have 2 road trips all mapped out. One for the ring road which goes all around Iceland (9 days) and the Scotland NC500 (5-6days). Just about getting out and doing them (Iceland costs a fair bit more).
I have never been on a road trip so I’d love to hear of roadtrips people have done, want to do and any experiences regarding them! Especially common scams abroad!! |

I have been on a road trip to Iceland with a friend.
We rented a car and did the whole island. It was in September. We slept on the car. It was a great experience except when we got caught by a snow storm andI had to push the car.
Otherwise it was awesome. |

Was it as quite, desolate and serene as it appears/is made out to be? Honestly I have a burning passion to do that trip it just looks so adventurous!! As a kid I love looking at the spinny light up globe we had and thought who the heck lives on that patch there!! |

Bravo! Here's someone who knows how to live life.
For the op, I done an Iceland road trip recently & can say it's easily the most expensive country I've been to. At first it was amusing discovering the cost of things but after a few days it became ridiculous, as doing normal everyday things became an expense. I'd recommend going in the summer months to get 24 hours day light, bring a tent cos at the end of the day you're there for nature & natural sights. Bring a bottle or 2 of spirits with you from home & also decide if you'll want to go off road via 4x4 as you'll have to decide beforehand whether to go off road or stay on sealed. Bring mates or pick up hitchhiker's too! Anything else just pm me man, travel is kind of my thing. |

"NC 500 better doing it over 10 days min, roads are a challenge at times and to really appreciate the beauty of the trip go slower.. "
Man I was contemplating this 3 weeks ago. I got as far as Inverness when I learned about this route & way toying whether to do it or not. I had two full days left which was doable in terms of the circuit but everything would have been from the car. So I knocked it the head & sent out a couple of emails to some fabbers in Fort William instead.
Should have done the 500 in hindsight! |

Yeah I heard its super expensive. I do not have tonnes of money and the flights included 50kg per person (4x people going) so thought we could take dried/tinned foods and things like pasta/rice to boil for carbs. Thanks mate I will do!! |

Sounds like an adventure but I’d be worried about those countries?! |

I’ll factor in some more days then. I do want a non rushed, relaxed experience. |
