This comes up every year, shops wouldnt do it if people weren't buying it... fact is loads of people buy chocolates etc with the intention of saving them for xmas but end up eating them and buying more come December, so it's a nice little sales increase. Also now summer is over what else can shops do with the seasonal space Between now and xmas? Halloween tends to be more last minute so doesnt need to be out that long to sell. It also spreads the sales/stock over a longer period so helps prevent one big rush for them making it easier for shops and distribution. |

If it helps people who are struggling financially and need to spread the coast as much as possible then what's the harm. It happens every year people whittling about it I can only assume they are loan sharks wanting to put poor people in debt. |

I saw an advert for Christmas turkeys on the television at the end of August.
Tesco had a selection of mince pies, Christmas puddings etc. for sale, last week.
On the turkey side, it's akin to Herod the Great ordering the massacre of all male children (Gospel of Matthew) as, typically, most of the Christmas turkeys will have hatched in August.

I work in Retail, and I'm afraid we've had Christmas biscuits and sweets in for months. Plus other comments are spot on...Easter eggs come into stores at Christmas every year |

I can understand non-perishable xmas crap being sold early - but went in a supermarket on 2nd Sept and there were piles of mince pies, with a week on the Best Before. Just...why? |

Our beleaguered retailers rely so heavily on Christmas sales that it is hardly surprising that they’ve Christmas stock in so early. As another poster said, if there’s no demand then they wouldn’t give up floor space to stock that won’t sell. |

With the ever shrinking sizes of goods like the Roses and Quality Street tins I always wonder if this is factored into the inflation figures. I picked up a large Ginsters sausage roll in a shop the other day and thought my hands had grown.. |
