I have been suffering from sciatica for more than a year now. I also have a niggling shoulder injury from the gym. Some days the sciatica flare ups can be unbearable. After doing a bit online research I was thinking about trying CBD oil to help relieve the pain, but it is really expensive. Has anyone tried it for pain relief and did you find it was worth paying the money for ? |

Yes it is expensive and yes it is worth it. I don't use it myself but i know many that do and they all swear by it.
You should also consider a few visits to an osteopath which i do use and perhaps combine the two. |

I've not come across a CBD strain for pain in this country. I have the same problem as you and very rarely take pain killers but have found that the green stuff is better. Have you seen and osteopath for the syatica? I thought i just had a slipped disc but turned out to be a degenerative disorder. Im getting help now through physio/acupuncture and pilates. This time last yeat i could barely move and kept getting stuck on the floor. Now, still having pain spasms but can am far more flexible and limber than I've been since m 20s. |

CBD oil is expensive and to my knowledge, isn't funded by the NHS. I've seen that it's really helped a number of my patients with ailments of chronic pain, though its not a 100% guarantee. The major hang up is the price and potentially the dependency a person might develop for it if it works well. |

I have been thinking about getting professional help as my doctor only ever wants to prescribe anti inflammatories but I dont want to keep going down that route. Thanks for the advice |

I had a nasty incident with a cow 20 years ago which resulted in severe spinal trauma, the quack would only prescribe anti inflammatories which is fine while you're taking them but you don't want to be doing that for the rest of your life.
The only thing that really helped was an osteopath, combined with regular yoga classes that's keeping me mobile. |

I'm definitely considering seeing an osteopath for help. Yeah I knew the green stuff would help but unfortunately I get randomly tested because of my job. I think there's certain exercises a professional could show me |

Yeah I think if it did work well then yes it would be a very expensive way to keep up with a pain relief. |

Yeah I'm a bit concerned about the long term use of anti inflammatories and effects on liver, kidneys etc. Think I'm going to just have to get some professional help from an osteopath, which will probably be expensive also. Thank for your reply |

Try and find a good physio.. osteo/chiropractor also helps as sometimes you need to look at both the skeletal and muscular issues. Yoga/pilates can also help. |

Oh £20 a month seems reasonable. I might look into the vaping options. Thanks for the info |

Get the legal stuff without thc or you might fail drug tests at work.

Yeah I've done some online research because that was my main concern. I would only get the stuff without thc as I really cant risk losing my job if I tested positive. Cheers for the info |

Turmeric and also 'devils claw' tablets I used to take as a more natural anti-inflammatory.
Regular massages too to help with the tight muscles. |

I'm not sure whether I actually felt any relief from the turmeric, but it's got lots of health benefits anyway so definitely worth trying.
Devils claw definitely worked, I had a get a high strength when it was really bad, then dropped down when it was better. |

Even without the thc the cbd will show in most drug tests. You could get a note from your doc to explain this. I would give it a try, of course there are health consequences of vaping cbd oil long term but probably no more than taking anti inflammatories long term. Cbd certainly doesn't work for everyone. OP Have you had any physio yet? |

I could always ask my employer if taking CBD oil would would cause any issues if I was tested. Yes a docs note might help as well. I have been thinking about physio as well, in fact I've found quite a few online which are around my area. Quite a lot of good reviews as well |

You should get some acupuncture - it’s fantastic for sciatica - it sometimes takes a few treatments, but you should notice an immediate effect/ improvement after the first visit.. if you don’t you are seeing the wrong therapist. Beware to see a proper acupuncturist rather than a person who does dry-needling’ as it’s generally not as effective |

You can get CBD plants... if you know where.
I take the CBD plant after my MMA fights - I think it’s like 12% CBD minimum. Would recommend a lot! I feel so much better taking that than taking anything the doctor gives me.

The thing you need to sometimes watch with CBD is purity. A friend of mines Mrs works in debunking pharmaceuticals and did a lot of research into CBDs and narrowed it down to a handful of companies. They got one from Dragonfly in the end. He said he put a few drops under his tongue and felt effects quickly. There are lot of brands out there so shop aware coz they may contain impurities. There are a lot good CBD networks online who are there to help if people arent sure. |

No doctor is going to give you a note to say you are taking a privately sourced medication - how on earth can they know that even if it’s true! It’d be a waste of yours and their time asking for a letter for that |

I use it in the winter to manage pain in my ankle. I had to have reconstructed a few years ago. It really does help!!
I buy it from Holland and Barrett so I know it good quality and doesn't have thc in it. It costs me about £20 a month. They often have buy one get one for a penny.
There are contraindications, especially nsaids. So if you're on any regular meds, check with your GP first. |

CBD is the new rage. Unfortunately a lot of companies are ruining it (like they will with new tends) by selling shite for a lot of money. Holland & Barretts sell one and imo it was quite useless. I think it definitely has it’s place but it’s about finding a product that is good quality, a good concentration of CBD and that isn’t selling at £100 a bottle (which I have seen!). Cheaper to buy the original products containing THC and consume in very small doses. |

Sorry H & B stuff is really low quality Industrial waste paste is where their product comes from I would not recommend it even for pets.
Unfortunately its a grey area in the law. Some areas you can get CBD buds to smoke or high quality FECO which contains THC at very low levels but it also contains so many other essential cannabinoids, which if you google you will find you want.
CBD is better with full entourage for pain, its unfortunately illegal in this country.
My advice to anybody with CBD is
A)Research online plenty of info from countries other than the UK.
B) it won't help with cancer ever plenty of snake oil salesmen around shop a legitimate CBD dispensary such as Quintessential in cornwall or online |

I'm on the fence.
I know of the medicinal benefits of cannabis.. but can't really see how a low dose of CBD oil is going to help anyone with anything. Other than lighten your wallet.
Just another Snake Oil. |

I agree.
But if it works for some - even as a placebo then why not.
Sometimes paying the money convinces people that it's worth it.

oh yes you're right. Placebo effect is a very powerful one.
Taking advantage of people in pain is a pretty disgusting thing to do though. If I sold it, I'd be VERY careful about what I said about it.

I dont think CBD is false hope - I think it's just something new on the market that could help.

I'm not qualified to comment, I've not tried it and I'm not able to comment on the research.
But personally it seems to be something of a fad, the Next Greatest Thing. Some people go on like it'll cure every ailment known to man. That alone gives me pause. If it seems too good to be true it probably is, sort of thing.
I'm not saying what anyone else should do, but for me, I'll wait until the hype dies down. And more research is done, because as I understand it there's not enough research on the potential medical use of otherwise illicit substances. |

I'd really encourage you to look for research evidence of its efficacy for your condition that has followed double blind testing standards and is also published in reputable professional journals.
Also with that, ensure the dosing levels are specific and relate to very exciting standards. Sometimes medicines have very unusual effects at the wrong dose, including poorer effects if too high a dose is taken, or dangerous effects. It would be better for you to get the highest chances of success.
If other countries have a more formal system , it may pay off to get a trip, so that you could do a personal evaluation there. I always behave in getting the highest possibility of it being as close to right as possible when you explore.
A question - are different producers products all comparable and fully equivalent? As sometimes suppliers jump on bandwagons, it's possible that many products are not comparable.
It's also easy to be swayed by sellers who twist facts, making things appear different to reality. |

Ok so I see sceptics and good quality CBD isolate, distilate or bud can take anxiety away in some people instantly. It is also a great anti inflammatory and also very good in soaps and balms however I cannot stress enough it beeds to be Full Extract Cannabis Oil or FECO for short, because CBD is not really beneficial on its own without the other cannabinoids. There is a theory that The Human endocannabinoid receptors are designed for these compounds, as Cows and other animals used to feed on hemp which meant cannabinoids were in our food and milk. There were part of our diet. I am a big champion of the plant as a whole if anyone wants to talk more I can chat via pm. Sorry for the essay and geeksville |

I do like the idea of taking CBD, I just am not too sure that I like the price although you could say that you can't put a price on your health?!
I done one bottle of CBD from a mate that makes it, but can't say that I felt anything different.
Although another friend said that taking it has helped with their anxiety... |

"I have been suffering from sciatica for more than a year now. I also have a niggling shoulder injury from the gym. Some days the sciatica flare ups can be unbearable. After doing a bit online research I was thinking about trying CBD oil to help relieve the pain, but it is really expensive. Has anyone tried it for pain relief and did you find it was worth paying the money for ?"
Yes it's good, I get better more relaxed orgasm from it too |

A lot of the CBD products are crazy expensive for hardly any CBD.
I got some CBD herb legally and that was about 20 percent CBD and £20 for 4 grams. That is literally less than a quarter of the price of vape shop rubbish.
CBD is kind of the new snake oil and touted as a cure for everything. Personally I didn’t think much of it, made me feel a bit dizzy to be honest.
The full spectrum of a good balanced plant or high quality hash has the best effect.
I used to smoke shitloads of herb but gave it up after many years. Went from smoking around 3 grams a day for 15 years to nothing.
Word of warning, giving up herb totally killed my sex drive for about two months. Thought I would have trouble sleeping when I stopped but it never happened.
Just had more vivid dreams and a dead penis. LOL
Haven’t smoked for a few years and don’t especially miss it but still love the smell of a really nice bud. |

"No doctor is going to give you a note to say you are taking a privately sourced medication - how on earth can they know that even if it’s true! It’d be a waste of yours and their time asking for a letter for that "
Yeah you're probably right. Fair enough cheers |

"suffered for a year with really bad sciatica. limped/difficulty sitting down and once sat couldn't stand up
finally referred to physio.
Treated me with acupuncture down my spine.
Yes someone else mentioned acupuncture. That sounds really positive, might look into that option as well. Thanks
No flare up in over 8 years just an occasional dull ache " |

I'm the same mate. I started smoking in my late teens and only gave it up around 13 yrs ago due to my work starting testing or I'd probably still smoke it now. Used to get really sore muscles after a heavy workout and the bud or hash always soothed it |

"Ok so I see sceptics and good quality CBD isolate, distilate or bud can take anxiety away in some people instantly. Sorry for the essay and geeksville "
Interesting stuff. Thanks |

"I'd really encourage you to look for research evidence of its efficacy for your condition that has followed double blind testing standards and is also published in reputable professional journals.
It's also easy to be swayed by sellers who twist facts, making things appear different to reality."
I'll bear that I'm mind. Thanks for the Info |

"I'm not qualified to comment, I've not tried it and I'm not able to comment on the research.

Thanks for your sympathy. Your condition sounds awful so you have my sympathy also. How do you manage the flair ups ? |

I find massage, stretching, elevating my legs and heat can help. |

I only use the compound in its natural element, as I believe THC helps with my own issues. When the UK government gets its head out of its arse so many people will come to realise its a medicinal herb not a dirty drug habit as a few on here call it. Epilepsy, MS, Fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Parkinsons and many more ailments and illnesses can be helped using this plant. |

Personally I think the whole plant, THC, CBD and all the extras saved me back in the day.
I am apparently fairly intelligent (after taking an IQ test was offered to join mensa). But when I was young I struggled at school, was always getting suspended, never did any work, couldn’t concentrate and was always to wrapped up in the now to think about the future.
It was like my mind was always rammed full and about to blow.
Strange as it may sound herb gave me the space to think and allowed me to concentrate. It really helped. If I was stressed and things were getting to me I could always nip off for a joint and would immediately calm down and see things logically.
Always thought of it as a medicine not a “” and hated the bad reputation people gave it as a gateway drug to destruction.
Now everyone is different and I would not suggest for a minute it would be helpful for everyone, but for me it was definitely a lifeline and for that I will always be grateful.

Depends what line of work you’re in. If you get randomly alcohol and drug tested then you can’t as it will be in your system for 3 months at least. A train driver friend of mine can’t even use a Holland and Barrett cream with a tiny amount in, even though he swears it’s the only thing that helps the pain. |

I know very little about both CBD or THC so did a little Googling lol
What I would like to say just as some worthwhile information if you use these for medical use.
It might legal in the UK but these things are much different here.
Please be careful if you are visiting Egypt and bringing these into the country or any Middle Eastern Countries.
The laws surrounding CBD oil here are scetchy and you could end up in a lot trouble, I think it's the THC that is the problem, I don't know if all CBD oil contains THC but if it does it would be illegal to bring them into Egypt.
Not sure a medical certificate would be enough.
The authorities would look at it like say Tramadol.
I personally would contact the countries Embassy and ask advice before traveling if you wanted to use it.
