Lookong for a middle of the range phone for my son's birthday. He will be 14 at the end of this month. He doesn't like the thought of an iPhone so its between Samsung and Huawei. I've always been Samsung but he reckons you can get more for your money with Huawei. He is pitting his money to it and ideally wants a phone that will last about 2 years.

Any advice greatly appreciated

If he's going to use it as a camera as well, Sony Xperia's are good.

They're waterproof as well.

Mine's over 2 years old and no problems.

I use an Honor 10 Lite (whichis Huawei) and think it's very good value. I'm sure mine will last more than two years. Luke

I would highly recommend a One Plus phone. I have a Waway and while it's not bad, it wasnt as good as the One Plus 6t I have. I also have a galaxy S10e which i upgraded to a couple of months ago and i properly hate it.

Does it have to be a known brand? I have Ulefone S9 Pro, paid less than £100 for it. It is dual SIM, good processor and camera, works on Android.

I left Apple and joined the Huawei fan club. I've had my Mate10 Pro since they were released -probably 2yrs ago, camera and functionality is amazing and still beats most other things out there.

Value for money - OnePlus 7 - £500 (high end specs)

Even better value for money - Xioami Redmi K20 - £375 (high end specs)

Alot of Chinese phones will soon have problems with Google. The latest trade embargoes between the US and China mean that not all current upto date versions of the latest apps. Something to consider maybe

Google.

As in, not the search engine... The phone.

Google Pixel 3A, Cheap-ish for a very good mid range handset that has the Google AI behind the camera.

I have the 3XL and I don't think I will ever go back to Samsung and Apple!

Huawei. I'm on my 2nd one and love it .

I recently bought my son one (he is a tech mad teenager) and he loves his . You definitely get more for your money and in my mind they last longer than any of my Samsung's ever did
