Just wondering if it's just me or does everyone get nervous sending that first message?

No, otherwise I'd never send it.

I do, especially if I can't quite judge the stance of the person I'm messaging

Not sure, but try to image what is the worst that can happen?

You might not get a reply. But that's the same as not sending a message in the 1st place

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest

Nervous, why? No one will bite your head off and the worst that can occur is them not being interested.

That is crazy. How can you possibly be nervous by sending a message to someone you do not know or can not see.

I find "Hello" works well. Not being flippant, it's safe and easy

I get a bit giddy and a bit ooo, this is exciting but it's a positive nervous if nervous at all. Have a breath and enjoy those feelings - try and see them as positive.

What people are nervous of cannot be helped. We are all different

So speaks someone I will never understand

Yes, OP, but feel the fear and do it anyway. It's rarely as bad as that.

Hello seems a bit cold to me if we chatted for ages and plan to get intimate

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

Nothing makes me nervous, whether sending messages or meeting for the first time.

I suppose I'm a bit of an extrovert, which could be due to my work and hobbies, as I am rather outgoing.

The most obvious, to me at least, reason for being nervous about anything Fab is fearing the possibility of rejection.

And that links to one's own self esteem

True, though for me I'd rather meet for a social sooner rather than later. If it's a second meet then I'd expect a big smile and a warm hug

So maybe the answer is a big smile and a warm hug

It is nerves as I am new to the whole scene but I suppose everyone was in my position at one time or another.
