I have just used an entire tub of Astonish oven cleaner on my oven (surprisingly). The only astonishing thing about it is that 1 hour later, my oven looks no different.
I dont like to use harsh chemicals and have tried a variety of 'gentler' oven cleaning methods recently to no avail including bicarb paste, dishwasher tablets  , fairy liquid, white vinegar... nothing seems to be very effective 
Does anyone know of a cleaning product which actually works, if I have to resort to stronger chemicals I will, but I'd really prefer not to! |

"Yeah heat your oven a bit then use The Pink Stuff in a tub with either a dishwasher tablet or a washing machine tablet,can't remember which it is now. "
Thanks Ignite, I haven't tried The Pink Stuff yet so I'll give it a go. |

Haha, I do feel your pain. I've tried cleaning an oven once and just gave up after 10 minutes. |

It's a bit of a bugger to get hold of,it's only about 90p in places like B&M,Poundstretcher,but because it's on Mrs Hinchs Facebook page people buy it in bulk then flog on EBay for 3 time's the price in the shops. |

Thanks Ace, I've tried that! For aaaaaages too. I cant even get the glass clean on it! There's no physical build up of crap, just a layer of grease welded to the interior and glass. It has a force shield  |

"I had a tip about cleaning the glass in my oven door. It was to use a dishwasher tablet made damp but not wet and rub it over the glass. Took a bit of effort but it worked a treat "

"For around 30 quid you can get it steam cleaned. I've seen the finished results and I thought I'd got a new cooker. Didn't use the oven for months, just kept admiring it!"
How satisfying, if I ever get mine that clean I'll possibly never use it again! |

"Oven Pride. You get a huge zippy plastic bag to.put the racks in.
I leave the lotion to soak overnight in the oven then wash it out with water. £3.99"
I've used this before but it did make the oven stink for weeks (maybe I didn't wash it off properly ) |

At its worst, bicarbonate of soda and vinegar did mine but you have tried that.

Yes that was the first thing I tried, it's generally great for most cleaning jobs.
An oven cleaning meet.... hmmmmmmm...  |

I put bowls of water with loads of lemons into the oven and turn in on. Leave it in 90 mins, then wipe up all the grot from inside. Always works! No chemicals either, so bonus. |

Are you cutting the lemons in half or leaving them whole and are they in or out of the water?
I bake a lot of lemon cakes. They don't clean the oven when they're in cake, that much I know  |

It's not the pink stuff for clothes,it's a miracle cleaning paste so it says on the tub  |
