I'm off with lovely Ash to Spain tomorrow.
It's my first time abroad and I'm excited but nervous, especially about the flight.
Any advice, hints and tips greatly appreciated. |

Take chewing gum to chew upon take of and landing... helps with the ears... depending who you are flying with you need to take in flight entertainment/snacks these days
Just enjoy the flight, nothing to worry about it’s the safest method of travel xx |

It's not a long flight and will be over almost before you know it. Flying is very safe. Chewing gum or sweets (to suck on) for takeoff and landing will help. Sometimes cabins can be kept cool so you might want to account for that. The air in the cabin will likely be drying. |

That's a good idea, I was debating whether to take a light hoodie. I think I will. X |

"Nothing worse than being late and rushing through an airport.
Arrive with loads of time to spare so you are relaxed.
Also use an Airport lounge to chill out in away from the hustle and bustle. "
We have that sorted. I get quite anxious so we have planned everything we'll in advance. X |

Enjoy the holiday! If you forget something in packing don’t stress about it, you can buy it over there. Take something to read for the plane/earplugs. Someone has mentions it’s not that long a flight and will be over before you know it |

"Follow the luggage rules they give you. Some airlines can be a real pain about it."
Thank you. I'm not taking any liquids in hand luggage so I should be OK. Iv paid for extra weight as I'm not a light packer! |

Aww Lorna, you're going away? First, I hope you have an amazing time and enjoy every minute of it.
Wear separates for the flight - that way when it's cooler in the cabin you can put your cardi on, take it off when you arrive. Make sure you wear comfy clothing as well.
Leave plenty of time between when you arrive at the airport and when your flight departs.
Make sure you have toiletries in the necessary bottles now and you've checked the airline's guidance on what you can/can't take, tonight.
Double check all necessary documentation and put it in a clear wallet. You can easily see where it is, no last minute dash looking for passports etc.
Most importantly, relax and have fun. x |

Take a physical book for the plane rather than a Kindle - many airlines will make you pack electricals larger than a phone in your luggage now and not allow you to have them in the cabin with you.
Have a lovely holiday! |

Oh drinks lots of water flying dehydrates you! You can take an empty bottle airside and fill up at a tap to avoid paying over the odds for water
If you buy champagne in duty free the fight attendants can chill it for you.... not advisable if you have a 2 hour coach transfer through the alp led though, made that transfer fun at the beginning then a nightmare!

If pushed for luggage weight, wear clothes including coats that have tons of pockets - fill them up . Useful for odd shaped stuff too. Whilst boarding, take off what you don't need and put in overhead locker. (A spare plastic bag may help to keep bits intact, once on board. Anything in a bag before boarding is subject to restrictions).
Ensure your perfume, makeup, toothpaste etc is all in small enough containers if you want it in hand baggage - 100ml. Anything larger can't go in hand baggage!Would need to be in your checked in baggage.
If you don't feel fully confident at any point, take deeper, slower breaths. Have your out breaths be double the time of your in, eg 4 and 8 seconds. Once you're in the plane, it's your opportunity to enjoy some rest for a couple of hours, as prep can be hard work. Let yourself relax and taking off the start of your break, R&R.
Once you land, keep just the clothes you want on - you've gone beyond where weights and sizes are measured. That extra plastic bag could help here - probably taking it inside your vehicle taking you to your accom, if on a bus etc.
Don't buy foreign currency at the airport - it's the most expensive place, worst rates if not pre done. |
