Well it’s in eggs and plants. I don’t know why there is such a big debate wether people eat meat or not? |

You don’t always have to take them, depends on your diet. The guy I’m seeing is a vegan but rarely takes vitamins. He grows most stuff and eats well. He also plays football at a semi professional level so is super fit also for his age of 46 |

It was recently reported that a new born was put on a vegan diet and after several weeks the child was so severely malnourished that the parents were in big trouble with the authorities. They had good intentions I am sure and hope the little one pulls through. |

Of course you're not supposed to put a baby on a vegan diet. It's absolutely fine for a fully developed adult though. |

Yes my friends entire family is vegan and as far as I can tell they're all perfectly well. I think she was a bit over enthusiastic with the vitamins lol |

B vitamins are water soluble so if you take too much you just pee it out. It won't hurt you but you are wasting your money! |

It's only vit B12 that's the problem and as long as eat fortified foods can be generally ok
Choline is in cauliflower and broccoli so as long as a vegan eats them regularly plus takes a general good mineral supplement then it'll be ok! Seems a huge amount of the general population has a choline deficiency |

Hmmmmmmmm
Facts please
I'm not a parent or have a clue , but are new borns not supposed to be on a liquid diet , ie breast milk or alternative ? Ie is the standard newborn diet not already vegan , and yes of course vegans can breast feed , only a twisted logic would try to debate otherwise
A good vegan diet is as good as any good diet
A bad vegan diet is as bad as any bad diet

I guess it sold a few papers and those happy with one source of info passed on the half truth half lie and got others to believe it. It's always best to read widely.
ANYONE runs the risk of missing minerals and vits...... anyone..

The Royal Academy of Medicine in Belgium has called for parents to be prosecuted if parents force a vegan diet on newborns.
The case I mentioned earlier was in Sydney. The child was taken into care and has never recovered and has rickets.
I am no scientist but would not take the risk |

There needs to be more research into this. I feel they probably used a restricted diet in terms of food groups and not necessarily a vegan diet. I'm not disbelieving the story but I am disbelieving the 'vegan' angle. I'd more readily believe a protein and mineral deficiency angle.
P.S. Vegans get ALL they need to thrive and grow and develop good bones. |

I've read the article about the baby now. It has been worded so as to imply that a vegan diet is at fault.
Her mother's depression and compromised moral thinking and care abilities were at fault. They fed a highly inadequate diet. They did not realise.
It is NOT because she is VEGAN. The child was given a very poor diet. |

One case of a vegan diet causing a child health problems -vs- probably millions of cases of health problems caused by poor nutrition from non-vegans - neither are right but I wouldn't be using one single case to attack veganism (and before you say it I am sure there is more than that one case BUT it'll still be nothing compared to the number of cases of children fed on McDs and other crap) |

They do live longer but studies say its nothing to do with being vegan. They are more likely to exercise, be married, smoke less and drink less alcohol—all factors that also contribute to a longer life. |

Blue tits pecking open milk bottles to get to the cream, cats will choose to drink milk, dogs, rats. There’s a lot that do. Cross species adoption happens, cows feeding horses, dogs feeding numerous animals.

Choline deficiency is known to impact the way one behaves in civil society. Sufferers are known to feel the need to tell everyone about their dietary choices and judge others for theirs.
One doesn’t need to look out for the signs of Choline deficiency, sufferers will make you more than aware in any conversation about any subject or will set upon you when you walk out of Greggs |
