I think he bottled it. Your profile is pretty direct, nothing wrong with that, he thought he was up for it but he was kidding himself.
You may well never hear from him again. He just wasn't bold enough for you.
Shame though, you say what you want and you aim to get it. That works for plenty other guys and I'm sure you won't be short of a better offer soon.
