This Generation's Bladerunner?
I know the Anime is more in time with Bladerunner. I think the films done a good job and I really like both it and the original.

I think the Bladerunner sequel is this generation's Bladerunner
I really enjoyed the Ghost in the Shell movie too though, and all the scenes they recreated from the anime I know there was a lot of irritation about the "white washing" of Kusanagi, however I think it was a good choice to use a big name actor to get attention for a film which would probably have fallen off the the radar otherwise. |

I think she plays it well and I've no more issue with her being white than I do with Elba being a Bond. Not if it brings a new audience to the original film.
I think you're right. It needed a big name. |

I thought it was a truly dreadful, and Scarlett Johansson's acting was dire. I loved her in Lucy and as the Black Widow. In her defence the script was pretty static with poor dialogue.
Beat Takeshi was the best thing and he was wasted.
Personally I felt the character should have been played by an Asian, but I accept and understand white actors have problems getting big budget roles because of all the Asian actors getting those roles. |

Hmm.. The script for a robowoman is never going to be great and to be fair.. emotionless.
Unfortunately films are made based on bums on seats.. rather than just quality and continuity.
I'd have preferred an Asian actress, but did like the Foriegner element of story within a future Japan. And I fancy Scarlett. |

As usual I would agree with your points. But:
1. the dialogue seemed that it had been written in Japanese and badly translated into English by an Italian who was not fluent in English and who used a dictionary of American Slang.
2. One could hope the Black Panther effect will concentrate minds on the markets outside America and Europe.
3. Mature Scarlett Johansson is nice, no question!
