Became pre diabetic last year, heart rate went sky high, blood pressure went crazy, felt really ill. Went on a diet where I just ate fruit, vegetables, some meat, lots of water. Did lots of water. I went back to normal. Told if I don’t want to be diabetic in the future. Have to adopt a healthy new lifestyle. Joining a gym in the new year, getting back into running, healthy eating. Fruit wise, just make sure you eat five portions each day. |

Type 2 here.
Tbh as I have tried to explain to people who don't understand.
Fruit juice,, apple's, chocolate, banana's, Sweet's they are all pretty much the same all be it the liquids are absorbed quicker but all do the same to blood sugars.
It's a total myth that eating more fruit will help.
Yes it's contains vital vitamin's and minerals but as a diabetic it does exactly the same to blood sugars as a Mars bar.
Bread, pasta, rice potatoes same shit just absorbed slightly slower.
Low GI food is what you need .
A high vegetables, nut's, seed's lean healthy meat.
Slow release ( complex carbohydrates)
Avoid fruit juice at all costs fizzy drinks are the work of the devil.
Watch out for hidden sugars in stuff like bread. |

Everything is in moderation. One apple has 10 grams of sugar in it(three teaspoons roughly) the best thing is not to drink juice it's the same as drinking soda. |

L is insulin dependent from the age of seven. Drinks like a fish (when she wants too), never has a day without chocolate and balances her blood sugars brilliantly.
Fair bit of bollox on this thread. |

I have managed to reverse type 2, through better eating, no alcohol (no choice about that) no red meat and exercise.
I recently had a minor surgery and the Hba1c was 32, since then, I've had the usual check ups and have had my medication removed, but for some backup methformin should my levels rise. The odd thing is, I can eat cake and chocolates again but no longer want to, so it seems that the pain of going there and all it entails has put me off risking returning there.
Oh one last point, by comparison to recent years, morning glory has returned to being as strong as it was twenty years ago, or at least it feels that way. Mrs Shadys second opinion would agree with that statement... ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

Had bad news today, the pre diabetes could have come back. NHS have lowered the pre diabetes threshold so I am at risk again. So from this year for the rest of my life I will be big into fitness, healthy lifestyle, eating healthy. |

Good plan. I wish I'd taken the warnings seriously but I was in my early 20's and thought I was invincible.
Hope you manage to keep it at bay. |

Few years back my mate talked me into taking part in the London 100 to raise money for Diabetes Uk as his wife is Type 1 diabetic. I had no idea how common diabetes is until then. Both my parents are type 2 and I now know that 3 other friends of mine are type 1 controlled by a pump. |

What ever you do try to reduce carb intake as your body turns it all into sugar, my dads diabetic and was told just yesterday to avoid cereal and toast for breakfast but fill your boots with bacon, sausage, mushrooms which he loved the idea of.
Best thing just learn how your body reacts to different things as we are all different. ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

My body doesn't like carbs. I rarely eat potatoes, rice, pasta etc and limit cake etc to weekends. I eat chocolate every day but its 85% cocoa. My blood sugar is normal |

Ive spent most my life eating chocolate, fast food and general rubbish food plus dont really work out or excercise and mine is normal had it checked the other week in an MOT at the docs.
This is why i say its not what you eat how much you eat its about knowing your own body and what it reacts to. |

Been type one for 25 plus years and that coupled with the fact that I’m a man and a fucking idiot is one of the reasons we are on Fab.
Most days I run between 20 and 30 due to my eat anything outlook on life(idiot)!!
So through my own fault I stopped jizzing 12 years ago because my jizzing muscle packed up so when I cum it’s shoots straight into my bladder, clean but not the best.
Then ten years ago I lost my lovely hard cock which took me two years to come to terms with at the age of 45!!!
Take care and take it serious!!!

Good luck with it! Always good to make changes.
I will have to try, I have a heart condition, which I have had for a couple of years, today I discovered that it is progressing faster than anticipated and now have angina
In bits tbh, I am 45 the same age my Dad was when he was diagnosed and he died at 50
Dr thinks it is hereditary, my cholestrol levels are normal, I don't drink or smoke or eat badly. I exercise. On paper I should not have it

peanut butter in scrambled eggs? I might give that a try. If I feel really hungry I often eat a spoonful of peanut butter. I do have one slice of bread a day with about a pound of butter and a jar of peanut butter on it . |

"I thought eating sugar cant cause diabetes, the jury is still out on avoiding it."
Type 1 is auto immune illness so the pancreas cannot produce insulin. Type 2 the pancreas cannot break down sugar. |

The research I seen showed that avoiding sugar, but then taking some in, for example a chocolate bar one sunday, causes a huge spike. So they stopped the research and told the person to start eating sugar again.
ie, if you are gonna eat sugar, then eat it every day and moderate it, dont fast from it and cave once a week/month.
That our sugar response is tolerance rated and if you go off it, go off it. |

Type 1
A big difference between the two is that Type 1 isn’t affected by your lifestyle. Or your weight. That means you can’t affect your risk of developing Type 1 by lifestyle changes.
People up to the age of 40 are more likely to be diagnosed with it, especially children. In fact, most children with diabetes have Type 1. But, although it’s less common, people over 40 can also be diagnosed with it. |

Type 2 diabetes is different. If you’ve got Type 2, either your body doesn’t make enough insulin, or your insulin doesn’t work properly. This is known as insulin resistance. Like Type 1, this means the level of glucose in your blood is too high. |

Genetics genetics genetics.
People really need to understand how big a part this plays .
Don't assume because the fact that at 34 you can eat what you want even in moderation and this won't change as you get older. |

The pain in the ass for me is I was previously cleared of pre diabetes last year when i dieted like crazy, went on loads of walks. The NHS lowered the number down which you are affectively classed as pre diabetic. So I’ll have to properly purge myself of this condition, make permanent lifestyle changes, lose weight, tone up and finally beat this thing once and for all. I’ll have to take time out from Fab in the next few months to get an handle on this properly. |
