With whats happening to these 2 old football clubs, as fans where would/could you turn your loyalties to if they do go bust... and for any other fans of sports teams, if your club went belly up, where would you go to follow
As a derby fan here, if DCFC went bust, i think id go to watch WBA as i used to go with a mate as teenageres if derby werent playing.. wouldnt ever get same passion but i could go and watch them now and then |

Is this a result of the volume of clubs in a small area? Surely, if income is driven by gate takings (I know it's not a simple as that) then more clubs could mean less gate
There must be over 10 clubs in a 15 mile radius of Manchester |

What I can’t get my head around with bury is that the current owner only bought the club in December, for a quid! Did the FA not check that he had the finances in place to pay off their debts and actually afford to run the club as part of their checks?
There are too many clubs in severe financial difficulties these days. My own club Notts County, have been days away from liquidation numerous times. Most recently, players and other staff were unpaid for 2 months and the club fighting hmrc winding up petitions in the high court whilst the owner was trying to cut his losses and flog the club. How do we fix it? I’ve no idea |

As a fellow Derby fan here OP, we had a few financial struggles back in the 80's as well.
What gets me about all this is that oil tycoons or wherever they have made their money, come and pump billions into a club that they have probably never even seen play, and the top earners, after some of them have cost £50m+ and are on wages per week that would see the average punter happy for the rest of their lives.
Surely if some of the top clubs chucked in about 1% of their wealth, then it would keep the players, staff etc in wages for the foreseeable future

I'm a Bolton fan, originally from the town so I had no choice but to support my local team, even when we moved to Horwich.
To be honest I'm absolutely dumbfounded, followed them abroad when we were in Europe and enjoyed the days when we had JJ and Campo etc.
There won't be any other Team, I watch the Premier League and my kids due to their mother are Liverpool fans, so I'll half follow their progress. But won't celebrate if they win anything because they're not my Team.
I'm hoping for good news, it still not updated on the local news. But if we do get thrown out, I'll follow whatever comes in their place |
