Can anyone give any tips on hidden gems worth visiting when I'm next down with my kids and dogs.
I'm thinking bodyboarding, surf lessons, coasteering, dolphin watching, crabbing etc
Pubs on the estuary or harbour front
Would love to find a beach cafe like the one I found in North Devon that cooks Thai food and you eat it on the beach with live music etc.
I know the main touristy bits pretty well but looking for something special as it won't be long before they don't want to holiday with me
Pm if you want to keep it as your secret location
Thanks in advance |

"There’s a naturist beach at the end of perrenporth beach and the waves at Porthleven are huge. Not safe there for being in the sea though. "
I have holidayed for years at Perrenporth and never knew about the naturist area |

St. Ives is very seaside/kiss me quick. For coastline, all around the Lizard, Kynance Cove. Fowey is nice. Lots of small ports like Mevagissey, Mousehole, Charlestown. |

Charlestown is a little gem and the small dock has been on many tv series including Poldark.
The Pier House does decent food, pebble beach though.
It’s our favourite place to stay and we will be staying there next summer.
Head to Padstow with the kids and get them out on the speedboats, they are fairly priced for a 20 min blast around the coastline. |

I'll second the Pier House, ate there a couple of months ago. For sandy beaches, around the Lizard, Praa sands.Hale has an amazing beach, but I haven't visited the town in @ 20 yrs and it was quite run down then. |

Just south of Bude is Widemouth bay.
Great for surfing and safe with the lifeguards etc.
There are 3 pubs...all are great but the hidden gem is the Beach House.
It doesn't look much from the road...the reason is that they moved the road from the front of the pub to the back of the pub due to erosion.
Now it looks the the back of a pub [surprise].
Anyway, the food and atmosphere is great. The Sunday BBQs are amazing |

The right place |
There are so many nice places in Cornwall.
North coast, Teyarnon is my favourite beach, good surf and rock pooling etc.
On the South Keynance cove is beautiful.
The far end of Vault beach (not far from Mevagissy) is a nudist beach and a very nice beach in its own right. It gets used in quite a lot of films. |

It was never official and not really been used as such for years by locals |

Boscastle for the wonderfully wierd witches museum and a place that makes the best raspberry ice cream I've ever tasted.
The best beach I know of for families is Daymer Bay - suntrap, beautiful stretch of sand, rockpools and a sheltered bay so good for swimming.
I haven't been able to beat the pasties made by the local butcher in the middle of Launceston town centre.

Visited both of those in July. The Minack show was the only evening of mizzle in an otherwise glorious week of sunny weather..
Atmospheric though, it was Macbeth.. |
