Not usually as you really don't know what people are really like till you meet them and if you have gone to theirs it can be difficult to leave and if they have come to yours and you are not keen it can be a nightmare to get rid.

Possibly. But I'd would say not unless you've already stung up quite a good repport with/feeling about the other person/s. Maybe even a little telephone or cam meet first? But probably not best if you have to travel too much out your way in case it just doesn't work out and you have to make your excuses and go home.
