I had a lose filling for a while which didn’t bother me. Being afraid of the dentist, I put off dealing with it until it really started to hurt. After several days of popping pain killers I went to the dentist on Monday. He removed the tooth and the relief was almost instantaneous.

Now though, the pain is back far worse than before. I’m maxed out on cocodamol and ibuprofen. Rinsing with corsodyl mouthwash isn’t helping and using Orajel isn’t doing any good either. The pain woke me last night, and has had me crying this evening.

Obviously I plan to go back to the dentist tomorrow. In the meantime, if anyone has any things I can try to ease the pain please please can you share them

Clove oil on a cotton bud pressed against the tooth.

Bite on a whole clove.

Sensitive toothpaste thick on the tooth.

Hold water in your mouth over and over.

GO TO THE DENTIST!

The tooth was extracted on Monday afternoon. If I could go back to the dentist at this time of night believe me I would. Anything would be better than being in so much pain it makes you cry!

Ahh it sounds like you've got a ' dry socket '

Ouch

I've had that and it's terrible!

If you can get to a 24hr chemist then clove oil really does help.

Other than that hold water over the area and spit - it's really temporary but will ease it for now.

Hugs - tooth pain is horrible x

Any fresh ginger in the house? A slice of that held against the area helped me.

I was in Chad North Africa a few years ago, got talking to this guy and he said that for tooth ache the poor people would pull the tooth then get dirty engine oil (has to be used engine oil aparently) and rub it in the gum, leave it for a while, then swill the mouth out killed the nerve and the pain.

How true that is I have no idea but they must do something.
