The Women's Rugby World cup has been renamed the Rugby World Cup 2021 to enhance gender imbalance as the men's competition is just called the Rugby World Cup 2019.
I get it but how would that work for the men's and ladies singles at Wimbledon. This world gets crazier by the day |

Wimbledon is a poor comparison as they have a men's, women's, boys, and girls singles competition every year.
Technically speaking the tournament isn't even called Wimbledon. It just "The Championships" |

Or more egalitarian, fair, just , less biased.
It must seem crazy to some, especially those that don't want to see. |

Female sport is fantastic for competitors and viewers and I get the equal pay thing too but sadly hardly anybody wants to watch it unless it's beach volleyball.
Love island had more viewers than most of the Lionesses football matches. The TV station do everything to promote it but it appeals to few sadly |

Just because it may (or may not) appeal to less though doesn't mean the name change isn't justified - and I think you'll find if you compare viewing figures for the latest world cup with those for the previous one they will have increased hugely - comparing to Love Island is not the best of comparisons |

Why have 2 world cups let's just have a world cup with best players representing their country irrespective of race, colour gender then everyone get paid what they worth
Same with tennis, golf, athletics list goes on |

That's the issue...most of the women's teams would be paid peanuts.. |

Because in competative sport, no woman would get into a guys team, so they make a girls only tournament only to start changing the name! It’s self defeating!
I lost point in a pub quiz recently because a lady footballer I’ve never heard of has apparently got the most England caps! I walked out in disgust #justsaying |

There wouldn't be any - no woman will ever come close to the men's 100m world record or even make the quarter finals of an Olympics so why bother? Women would stop participating.
It is a Rugby World Cup - there isn't a need to add 'Women' to the title |

We stop singling out female police officers for gender labelling when we dropped the term WPC in favour of the unisex PC. The world did not collapse then and it won't this time, either. |

In New Zealand the Black Ferns and All Blacks now play double headers where both play on the same day, one after the other.
The same for the White Ferns and the Black Caps in cricket.
This is highlighting the women's game and ensuring bigger crowds.
They are also highlighting the pay disparity and the cricketers will now be paid the same, regardless of sex. |

Ladies or men's are only descriptions used with the sport ie women's rugby world cup or men's rugby world cup not sure what the fuss is ... it's a description not a label!!! |

Label - a word or a phrase that is used to describe the characteristics or qualities of people, activities, or things
It was called The Women's Rugby World Cup so was a label |

The USA women's football team are looking to paid equally as the men saying they have out performed the men at the world cup
I can't remember the womens team competing against the men's team to outperform against them
I'm def all for anyone playing sport but unfortunately people will only be paid on basis of what they bring to the the sport in terms of money, sponsorship, shirt sales etc no matter who they are |

Totally agree but on here and in the PC world unfortunately label and description are used to have separate meanings ... I have no idea the reasoning in not calling anything Men's or Ladies sport when it is played by one or the other and not mixed! |

Why did you assume the question was about men and not footballers?"
Because the England football team is a mans team. The England ladies team is the England ladies team. As skilful and talented as some of them undoubtedly are, it’s still a minority sport played at a much lower standard and level of professionalism than the guys, the competition in women’s football is nowhere near the level
Of the guys and to try to lump them in with the guys Is wrong and totally disrespectful to each of them. One of the major points to come out of the last World Cup was that the ladies didht want to be compared to the men and see it as a totally different sport. Ladies and men’s sport are totally different things and need to be treated as such, trying to compare the two by bringing down division is wrong and will not help what can be a very entertaining sport grow |

Fixed it for you
Do you know why the women's game lags behind the men's game?
During WW1, when the men were at the front, the women's game was drawing huge crowds. Tens of thousands.
When the war was over, the women's game was too popular, so the football authorities prohibited women's football to allow the men to reclaim it.
The ban was lifted in the early 1970s, so they have had a bit of catching up to do. |

Ya but people arrive in halfway through or after the womens game so they are playing in front of half empty stadiums which kills the atmosphere some times your better having these games kn their own in an appropiate sized venue to create a buzz and an organic fanbase.
Also the pay gap in sport most of the time is entirely justified...
It should be equal when viewship and sponsership is equal..
Like in any work place... if I was in sales and my product grosses 100m a year Id expect more pay than the guy selling a product that grosses 1m a year even if he is a better worker |
