"Anyone else frustrated by the bad English and poor spelling on here?
There/Their is a prime example!
Several grammatical mistakes in your profile blurb - how’s that mote in your eye ?"
I can’t see any - I’ll put it through Word just to check. |

But normal general spelling mistakes I don't let bother me as not everyone is great at spelling.
"

I make enough mistakes myself trying to type quickly and ending up mashing the wrong buttons with my fat digits, so mistakes I'm fine with. Text speak I dont like because the sentence doesn't flow right if I have to decipher the words as I go along, so I find I'm paying more attention to the words than the message in the message/post. |

Yes.
I won't be too bothered by most slip-ups in forum comments because they are very spontaneous, but they should at lease make sense (which some don't).
It does make me cringe when a profile is written badly. That's somebody's shop window and they should make it as good as they can. A badly-written profile will immediately get zero interest from us.

Nun not at all.
It only narks me when someone points it out with poor spelling and grammar themselves. |

It does put me off somebody. Mine is far from perfect but I like to think I attain a fair standard. I try to remember that some people may be dyslexic or not have had a very good education, which isn't their fault. The ability to string a decent sentence together is an attractive quality though, in my opinion. |

A lot of text speak really frustrates me as it just comes across as lazy. Things like hru instead of how are you? I imagine they'll be just as lazy sexually, and it's a turn off, but i'm sure I'm just a snob.
I make a lot of typos due to sight problems, and obviously soneone with dyslexia will struggle a bit with spelling but I think there are a lot of people who genuinely don't know the difference between their, they're, and there.
People can have a pop at the OP but it is a bit embarassing that people for whom English isn't their first language type better than a lot of English people. Again I'm sure I'm just a snob though, and yes I have plenty to worry about besides grammar! |

I imagine if you landed here from the 18th century you would be appalled.
Language evolves.
It exists to enable humans to communicate with each other.
Perfect communication does not require perfect spelling. |

Never ever come into the forums and criticise others bad spelling or writing without making damn sure your own (especially your profile), is up to scratch.
You'll make a bit of a wally of yourself. |

It doesn’t frustrate us. People with poor spelling and grammar should be rewarded for this. Give them all free parking spaces and allowances from tax payers. See how charitable fellow humans can be. |

At work yes, in a report that is going to the courts yes, at Uni yes. Otherwise as far as I believe we use writing to communicate. If you can understand what I want to communicate despite my spelling errors then what’s the issue |

Mistakes because someone is not fully fluent, I get. Typos, I get. I do not get: people writing as though they left school after year 1 and people who do not speak or write English at all but expect to have a conversation. |

Anyone trying to flaunt their grammar prowess always forget a few things. The general rule is do you understand or get the message. Also, communication is about catering to your audience if txt spk aren't for you, why look up man profile. Sheesh!

I see this place as a place a lot of people come to. Some are articulate, some not. Does it really matter?
If we can all get our message across, perhaps the finer details of spelling and grammar should be ignored.
What do people think? |

What do people think?" Many women not all in fact a minute minority attach a lack of education to bad grammar and spelling and will discount you on it, it's another filter for them to reduce message numbers |

That's just pedantry. I'd more concerned with a message entirely in text speak than the odd typo. |
