Can an SD card be too big? Im struggling to view footage over 2GB on my 256GB sd card?

I bought a 256GB card for a panasonic HC W570 (3years old) ... all of the footage that is over 2GB will not play on the device or my mac. Is there a way to recover or convert the files so that we can watch them?

Thanks in anticipation

Yes it can- your camera manual should have a recommended limit.

Did you format the card in the camera or computer as that can limit file sizes.

Also, you can sometimes force files to work differently by either adding or deleting the little info files some cameras write to the SD card- although thats not an exact science!

Do the files play back beyond the 2gig limit in the camera?

just reread properly and saw they don't play back in camera- so ignore that.

What software do you use on your macbook for playback? if you've not got them installed, try VLC for playback and download mpeg streamclip (its free and safe) and see if that can transcode the files to full length?
