I don't like Billy Connolly as a stand up due to the constant use of bad language (why do they do that?) , But I think he is good in films etc ..

Like a lot of Scottish people who lived and worked in and around the shipyards the use of bad language is punctuation. It's not meant to offend, its life.

Too many have made me roar with laughter over the years to choose a favourite

Also, their acts tend to change with £'s

I saw Alan Carr before he was famous - he was hysterical

I can't stand him now, the act is so scripted it's almost a parody

I also find humour in places I perhaps shouldn't so some of the darker or less PC acts make me chuckle as well as some of the more family friendly ones

So, slightly off course, but atm I like Phil Wang. He seems clever.

All of my favourites have been mentioned by others. I’ve worked with hundreds of comedians over the years, many at the start of their careers. Of those I really enjoyed working with most because of their humility and generally nice approach are Johnny Vegas, Stewart Lee, Jenny Eclair, Frankie Boyle, and surprisingly, (given his onstage persona), Jerry Sadowitz.

Always been a fan of Billy Connolly but his last DVD was so sad to watch. I remember by dad borrowing my Walkman on a coach trip and listened to Billy A Wreck On Tour. He was in hysterics the whole journey and my mum was getting so annoyed and embarrassed cos his laugh was so loud. Great memories.

I saw Alan Carr live once. He was quite good but then he went on the Palladium and did the exact same routine. Which was disappointing.

Michael McIntyre told a story about his kids on Graham Norton that actually had me close to wetting myself so he went up in my estimation that night.

Jasper Carrot was good until he got too popular.

Back in the 80s I loved Richard Digence and today for stand up i think Adam Hills is great.

I saw Adam Hills twice on his last tour and got 2 totally different shows due to the audience interactions.

Is it Simon Hughes... Very sharp... Though Welsh myself loved his joke about the English, Welsh, and Pakistani expectant fathers...

Of " When the martians land in Huddersfield " fame. He was brilliant. Saw him probably 30 years ago live at the Assembly Rooms in Derby. I remember him playing oxygene by Jean Michelle Jare on large soft top dogs.

Dylan Moran, but Bill Bailey did the best show I've seen.

Also I like reading Frankie Boyle and Stewart Lee, they make the absurdities of the world seem so clear.
